simple solution for you. Trick the PC into thinking your running a differnt OS.

Run a VPS on your main server. Use windows XP or something, install the new DB on there. Tho just to warn ya you will need an XP key for it. And i aint exactually sure what program to use to make a VPS on your dedicated.

Doing this tends to make the server itself think you are running at a lower OS than you truely are. your able to alocate the necessary ram you need to the VPS and everything should run smooth.

Make sure you make a D drive on the VPS that aint a cd drive

x64 processors do have no compatibility issues with x86 ones, until you want to install x86 driver to x64 processor the have same instruction set, but x64 has 64-bit extension(64 bit memory addresing, 64bit registers.. etc) all applications for x86 should work on x64 operating systems including windows xp x64 or vista/server 2008 x64
