What`s the point now?

Well, I haven`t been here since some time, but I checked this place once again now. I must say that I`m shocked. Who cares about learning how to code now in C#, 99,9% will just copy-paste from the releases, and everyone will have a decent server! How, cool, isn`t it?

I`m not telling you guys to stop releasing. I`m just telling that you shouldn`t release the whole code. Maybe just give some hints and don`t show the code. As you can see, you can choose between two ways now.

The first one, is to keep on releasing like this. What will the outcome be? 4320492374236428 crappy private servers with tons and tons of people who don`t even understand the codes.

The second one, is to change your way of releasing as I told you some lines above. The outcome in this case would be people who would at least try to learn to code, and we wouldn`t even have millions of servers.

This thing has lost it`s magic. My only hope is that the situation will change.

P.S. - What`s with that VB.NET server I read about? It sounds interesting to me

Ive never ever seen a peice of source that is complete, or even close to complete, or close to being stable, so people can keep releasing all they want, none of the servers are stable enough to support more than 20 players.

AcidCo and Qonquer are still the only servers that can sustain any real number of players for any real amount of time.

i agree with u but not 100% cause the most servers that have a owner that can't code probly fails or will fail so

but i don't care if other people will make new pservers there will be bugs that they can't fix (not telling that i can do it) i'm still learning to but i have a pserver only for me and a couple of friends where i'm making and trying edits and i'm gonna put it public when i'm ready for it (when i can code my own stuff) i'm trying to code a quest now

but the point is the people that wanna learn how to code
will learn alot from the releases like i do

Yeah, ages ago me and leavemealone/future released one of my old sources that was very simple to understand and was layed out in a simple way and alot of people learned from it

yea i love those
it helped me alot to be as skilled as i'm now(don't think that i'm better then korvacs, emme, kinshi or the other good coders cause i'm not )

Of course, this is true. I`ll explain myself now clearly^^

Let`s assume that you want to release a... umm... let`s say Reflect code. You could do it with 1-2 smaller code snippets, so the one who reads it would still have to complete it in some way.

P.S. - Again, what`s with that VB server?

can't help u with that don't know that much about it either
11/05/2008 20:12 KraHen#8
I don`t want the code lol, I just gave an example of a possible situation.

Side project for some people that most likely won't get released or finished fully

Hybrid is coding a VB Server out of boredom and gonna release it when it's finished

You forgot to mention, its going to be really basic with just jump, talk and maybe npcs and monsters, but the reason its written in VB is because VisualBasics is such an easy language to understand.

It's meant to be basic, VB.NET has no support for pointers so I guess Hybrids going insane...
Never heard that he was going to release it though :p
So far as I know he's still working on ACo
