GM Mapview.. clientside? possible to bring up?

I was wondering if anyone ever tried to find out if the GM mapview is clientsided (all mobs and players as dots on maps)

First of all we have to think about what happens when running this mapview.
I think it is something like, if playerpacket n1 display white dot on map if mobpacket n1 display blue dot on map.
That we can do if we can decrypt the packets. But we have a problem, a player just get the packets of his viewrange and not of the whole map. (Thats serverside.)
So we could do this for a small part of the map but not for the whole map on account of the missing packets for the whole map.

now that u mention it, the viewrange cant be alterred however it is possible, i saw a screenshot of it on the 2moons forums.

and can i ask why you really wanna try and do this? cause seeing where players are on the map is useful but isn't really needed with speed and zoom out hack your prectically safe enough from normal players.

Of course the viewrange can be altered, so you dont have any smog.
But even if you can see the whole map, you will not see the mobs on the whole map, because the server does not give you the packets.
Thats what I mean with viewrange, the range in which the server gives you packets.

invisibillity is one thing but if u can see players all over the map or even only the nearby ones u can scroll out before getting busted ;)

also invisble players (GM's should also show then)

@ xhugox : I guess pieter means the Minimap ;)

I know what he means, he saw the minimap of a gm in a screenshot.
But in order to display some dots on the minimap you need to get the packets of the players/mobs, I think this can be done with clientside modification.
We just have 1 problem, the server just give us packets which belongs to our near vicinity.
Also you can modify the viewrange without problems but the mobs which are far away do not get displayed by our client, you have to get closer to them.

I am not sure about this; the server could just not send the packets to the players in order to turn the GM in ghost mode.
