[Question]Shop.dat and itemtype.dat editing

I`ve never posted on EPVP before so if this is in the wrong place i appologise.

Ive finally decided to take the plunge and edit my shop.dat and itemtype.dat and TBH im struggling a little bit.

Ive already translated my whole datatbase and most of the client

Question is if i edit the dats using winhex and change the chinese on the right side of the editing window to english will this mess up the dats or is it just a referance kinda thing. (cos i cant read chinese lol)

Also if i want to take out a certain item and i delete the part for said item(in winhex) will it leave a blank space in the shop or will it corrupt the whole file.

edit:While i have you here funhacker could you tell me which database is the best one to use, ive got 4-5 and the one ive translated is the chaosonline DB, not sure if this is an older one or not, also is there a way to tell what version client your using cos the version.dat just says 0001.

The only database I've ever used was the phdev one, which is before the paladin release, so I can't give advice there.

Client version (soul version) can be checked by right click soul.exe -> properties -> click details tab -> File Version should tell you what version of soul.exe your client has
