i need help making a private server

I need help making a private server I am a little slow I don't even know if my computer will even run one just want someone to help walk me through it. I would also like a little help finding out what software I need. I don't plan on using the server for money i just want to have fun playing with friends were i don't have to worry about going any were and getting pked constantly will someone please help me.

Go to the release section and follow one of the guides. I know my source lists all the stuff you need but as far as I remember most sources have full guides already.

There's no real special requirements for servers. Vista/Win7 usually recommended (windows XP dislikes some of the client loaders) but it's not like they have really high system requirements.

i am just using an acer aspire one and didn't know if it would be able to support a server
