Requesting refresher on the basics

Ok so in an attempt to get off this stupid Hamachi VPN .

I found No-Ip.com
Created account. configured ports and IP info , created host.
Went to add this info into the gameserver.opt ,ran the Rappelzcompress.exe
and modified the bat files. ( I use Notepad++) Now the client cant connect to log in server.

I know I'm getting stumped on some basic stuff here. Also still cant figure out how to make online registration so i wont have to manually create accounts.
Or how to compile a launcher so i dont have the give out the .bat file

Yet I have created a AI for the pets and players to allow for a "AFK" mode as seen in Sword2 .
Currently working on a world Tax/ownership system as seen in the dungeon raids .
And adding auto use food drop items into the drop list table. ( pick up pie auto uses) Make those looter pets more useful ;)

If anyone could fill me in on the missing steps here it would be appreciated.
My server isnt open to the public and wont be for a while. Just hosting for myself,friends and co workers for now.

You need some edumacations, young one.
Things for you to Google: DNS, and IP addresses. And more importantly, the difference between them.

where does DNS come into play here ? ?
Its all been Lan IPs and ports up till this point.

That isnt helping much on which files I'm editing wrong
