[PROOF] Sql 2000 VS Sql 2008 R2

Since a lot of wanna-be-cool-admins are around these forums, i decided to release some screenshots for you to compare :)
i had a little job to remodel DreamWorld's server systems.
the first thing i did was downgrading DreamWorld Rage's database server from MS SQL Server 2008 R2 to MS SQL Server 2000.

As a result, the server's performance increased drastically, and the server lost its known inventory lags.

screen of the server with 600 people online on sql-server 2008 R2:

now, before one of you wanna-be-pros comes here to flame or to talk some random bullshit about your oh so great sql server 2005 or 2008, please do me the favor, and give evidences / reasons why your newest database server is the best.

as always: this thread is for learning purposes and for those who thought me wrong with my "sql 2000 madness".
by the way: the database size is more then 4gb :) so stop bullshitting that sql server 2000 only handles 2gb of ram or only 2gb database files....

How about you make a guide about how to restore SQL2008 backup in sql2000? ^_^
i always knew that sql2000 was better, because the game was designed around 2001-2004 so they used sql2000

it takes about 1 day to revert the database to 2000.
it's a lot of work.
no way I'm going to make any kind of guide for it.
sorry. and besides, this community doesn't deserve it.

and I'm 100% sure you won't be able to follow the guide anyways.
it's too "different each machine".

funny.
this sin't a show-off.
and don't take it wrong, but your server doesn't seem to be running really smooth. look at the consumption of your cpus and your ram.
pretty much if you ask me ;)

So why you want to prove sql 2000 better than sql 2008 r2 to us and we don't deserve your help..

You should learn and do it by yourself!

I'm using 2k3 server and 2k sp4 sql in class online and it goes so damn smooth, never even bothered of trying 2k8 lulz^^.

It's useless to run a server using slq2005 or higher, it has lots of stuff that SRO was never designed for use, which makes at the end a waste of RAM and server resources.

It's pretty hard to find a dedicated server nowadays with Windows Server 2003, almost all hosting offers server2008 :\

read the first post. then you will understand why i prove it. because there are simply too many noobs out there who say that the minimum or optimal requirements are at least sql server 2005. and if i remember back, there weren't people who agreed with me.
in this topic, you can see, that it is indeed better using a 2000 version :P
just saying.

now why this community doesn't deserve it: easy:
you guys flame me for asking for 50 euros for teaching you stuff and for securing your server.
now in this particular way again..first you guys still believe in your crap ultra-high-end database stuff, and now suddenly you start trolling around that i should create a tutorial/guide instead?
do you have any idea what work it takes to redo the db back to sql server 2000? if the db would be empty it would take less them 30 minutes. but on a db with some chars on it already makes the whole thing way more complicated.
so either way this community is full of shitheads who think they know it all and leechers who demand me to do some kind of "click-by-click guides" because they are too spoiled to learn and try it by their own.

this community is too young! most of you have absolutely NO idea about life and work!
I am not 16 years old and i do not go to school and eat at mommys table when i get home from school.
i have many more responsibilities. i got a real life! a household, bills to pay, i have children to feed, i have to go to work every fucking day. i have to come up with solutions on my job...without asking for guides somewhere!
you don't seem to be able to see this whole thing on a different perspective - of mine! because for me time is money! i have about 4 hours daily to spend time with my wife/children and to spend some time on my computer.
do you really think i would spend that time doing free stuff? i already released enough stuff for this community, and i NEVER got any volunteer donation for my work, so , why should i keep on doing it?
think this way. you have 4$ in your pocket. you need at lease 2 to buy food..and you would like to save some money.. would you really give that money to someone else? i mean - WOULD YOU give that money to a spoiled rich little brat (child) who has nothing else to do then run around asking for free money? i don't think so!
now for you to understand:
money - my time
spoiled child - 95% of the epvpers community

i think this statement has been clear enough!
grow up! nothing in this freaking world is free! and as sooner as you understand that, and as sooner you start LIVING ON YOUR OWN WITHOUT YOUR PARENTS HELP, the quicker you learn how the world really works and what you have to do to earn your living!
don't be a lazy fucked-up kid! do something for your skills and pay the ones who deserve it!

So just because the newer one uses more RAM means it's less efficient/slower or w/e?
actually the more it caches the better
I'm pretty sure that not all the RAM is wasted
RAM is extremely fast and still offers quite much space
ofc it will be slower if the resources needed to manage all the used RAM use all your system resources, but by looking at your task manager i can see that it's not the case

I'm pretty sure that a lot of improvements regarding caching/parsing queries/etc have been done, but ofc they also added new stuff, which could make it slower

I don't think that is the case here
