look at russian dedi servers

2 of these should be good:
2x Xeon E5645 2.4GHz
2x6Cores, HT, 12Mb cache
12GB DDR3 (max 48GB)
2x500GB SATA2

or rent this one and create a virtual machine for the second game and agent server
2х Xeon E5645 2.4GHz
2x6 Cores HT, 12MB cache
96GB DDR3
2x500GB SATA, RAID 1/SAS

here we go again.
mainstream-kids who think max is the best.
 do you have any idea about the server files to claim they need 16gb of ram? :D

i just say it once because I'm tired of these kids who claim they know it all and that think bigger-better-best is everything. yeah..go buy your old crappy cars and visual-tune them until you got a rocket under your ass (only visual of course.lol):

a 8-gig machine is enough to run a server with 1000 players (and all zones loaded).
the gameserver itself has restrictions. so if you want to increase the slots, you'll have to run a second gameserver/agentserver anyways.
stay at 8 gig of ram. cpu is noooot that important as you think. as long as it's a quad it's enough to sustain the 1000 slots.
everything above is just pure bullshit (same as the endless convos i had about sql server 2008R2 and sql server 2000)

300-bullshit!
I've secured/configured servers with this hardware: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] and it's fairly enough for 1000 slots.
if you think I'm wrong, prove me before you come with your 16-gig hexa-core crap shit :)

Still, unless his server won't go more than 1000 players he won't need a rocket. He can always order more of these roots and link them up to get the same performance for lower price.

He can buy the weaker one for now,no need to pay shitloads of money for a thing that is unknown since there is no 100% method to get 1k players within 1st week or month so he can just waste 500 euro for the 96 gb one for example. He can always upgrade server hardware if his server is being really popular.

Just make sure to look at the hosting speed and the amount of RAM-memory, CPU on a server is not so important.
