Here a simple guide how to fill up your slot! Hope this will answer many questions! ^^
First:
Search a Core Alchemist, you can find them in every town.
Seconde:
Put in your slotted item, then your force core. And Finaly a catalyst.

Level 1 Force Core Attributes
Below is a list wich attributes you can get with the suitable catalyst:

Level 2 Force Core Attributes
Level 2 force core attributes are random, no catalyst is required. However, a catalyst may be used to increase the chance of the Force Core Upgrade succeeding. In addition, if the level 2 force upgrade is not successful the item may take on a level 1 force core upgrade attribute at random, if no catalyst is present.
