What's sent S->C to make client a merchant?

Perhaps Impulse or someone could enlighten me as to what packet this is...

well the difference between a merchant and normal player is that they can trade special stuff while normal players cant or sell em in market that will only a need a message packet with a string value ur not a merchant u cant trade this stuff and that weird box that comes out when u login asking for merchant status confirmation thats the 1 that will require a unique packet i guess not sure tho thats what i could remember about merchants havent been in game for a while

Thank you for stating the obvious and nothing that anyone with common sense could discern. I'm referring to what packet gets sent that actual triggers the client to know it's a merchant.

... he's talking about the exact packets used. Not how the system worked rofl.

@ hybrid... sadly I don't think I'll be much use either as I never bothered with the full system..

That being said there is an update subtype for merchant (subtype 38 last patch I worked on) and can be either 0, 1 or 255 iirc...

I seem to remember
0 = not merchant
1 = in progress (popup asking if you still wanna be one)
255 = full merchant


I could be wrong though. It's been far too long and I never payed that much attention to the system.

Are you an idiot? Why would you re-invent the wheel (why should I look for something if somebody already knows how it works)? If that's you're mindset you're productivity levels must be through the floor.

Let's hypothetically say I did go digging for it. As we've discovered it's a sync. packet subtype. You expected me to find that? I mean, it's possible but the odds of you pulling that out of the handful of undocumented packets is very slim. Where as, I'm willing to bet Kinshi obtained this value through spamming random sync. packets on his server to his client (like most of us did to discover the sync-sub types). I don't have a server to test with anymore, so....

Infamous did you find what you were looking for? Would love to be of assistance but I dont' play with those "gay" systems.
