[Request]Securing a server

well there is many post's out there about this one.

if there is one out there i'm sorry, but i was thinking a real how to protect your server thread would be good.

ppl even let the sa account is sql stay at the "given" password and so on. why can't someone just give ppl a how to protect your server out there? i'm not 100% on this my self.

like do you just add PS_xxxxxx.exe firewall? or do you have to specify a port for it to use?

i'm guessing there is many out there that want to know insted of getting you have to protect your servere give ppl a guide on how to do it.. just my opinion..

There are many things to do and to take into account to secure it, as for example, run your database as local, block every external IP and close your SQL Port...

PHP is the biggest problem here. and well is there anyone that can mabe help with just a secure none php acount making? i have heard about ppl making a txt file that a script reads and put in to the sql. that means you can turn down 1433 sql. and remove php? how does that one work?

but if you alow ps_xxxx.exe file in firewall the port they use is any. is there a port we should use? or is this better to mabe everyone for them self find out?

the game need some ports this is what ppl said anyway but other say turn down every port.


even tho ps_xxx.exe use "any" port is there a normal one? LOL. i'm asking alitle for my self and mabe other's too, not long ago i din't know much about securing the server. so let's make it securing server for shaiya server for dummy's:-).

and localy you mean on your own pc or? how does that work? or localy on the server? isn't the game already running on 127.0.0.1?

mabe smart to say change your sa account's password in sql just in case?

there is alot of dummy's out there and well not that long ago i was 100% one of them. there is alot of good systems ppl out here, but let's bring it down to the dummy's level ok?

easy and slow and we all can have a good server running. even tho we all mabe run a server, the good server owners will win in the end. becouse they know what they do. and for 99% of us we want to win the right way right? making the best server is the best way to win and not cheat becouse you can't fight clean like using [apo] "yea everyone know that name now" and so on. let's teach the one's that want to read here and want to learn all about this too and we can have a clean normal good fight. the one's that do the best server wins the moust players..

Localy means close port 1433 for remote! close in sql config all ip adress , only 127.0.0.1 can reach the sql database! no php no webcontent like player online! sql injection is not longer possible...
