[Request]Auto-Registration

Hey guys,

Is there anyway to make an auto-registration within the client? So when players type there username/pass at login screen it will auto-register within the DB? And if there is how do you do it? Thanks.

Learn SQL and edit the login stored procedure. It shouldn't be too hard, you'd have to make it check if the account already exists in the DB then check the password. If it's a new acc ID then it will create an account right away.

That's a rather good idea actually, problem is people may forget their pass. Moreover being able of linking a player to a mail address is way safer.

so in other words not a good idea to do in case people forget their pass?

Good idea, but you'll get a tonne of "help me" requests from players that forget there user, or pass.. Also you'll find alot of unused accounts being created.

This is a good idea and also a bad idea, it removes the reCaptcha so botting account creation is possible, also if you don't put some kind of token at the end(or beginning) of the username, a player could simply misspell their username and create a new account. On the plus side, if you don't know how to setup a simple webhost, you can go this route, but I think using the registration script is a much better way to create accounts.

Agree with Tyler here, although in theory a good idea.. it just wouldnt work all that great. Too many user errors to take into account, and the fact of bots making thousands of accounts cuz of no "protection" against it is there.

And hootzoo, the OP was asking something completely different to a php registration.
