I have recently been developing a program for all you haters of the new lasers. AND HERE IT IS!!
Basically what this is...
Well this is a proxy program. Put simply, it intercepts the request for the new lasers and returns the old lasers instead :)
Things to note...
Well the main one is that the lasers were updated to increase FPS in the game. Using this program undoes this but as-far as I have seen it does not effect CPU Usage, Memory Usage or FPS in ANY WAY!
You may also have to let the program through your firewall. On Windows 7/Vista it should prompt you to Allow it through but on some occasions it won't. Just Google "how to let a program through windows firewall" and it will help you! I will advise you though that on the 4 computers I tested it on here at home, none of them needed it to be allowed through the firewall.
Also if you restart your computer in any way, and you don't want to start the program up again, you will need to reset/undo all the proxy settings below. Also if you decide you don't like the old lasers either (:eek:) and you close the program, you will need to either restart your computer or end the privoxy.exe task in Task Manager (and you will need to reset/undo all the proxy settings below). I will implement auto closing of this in a later version but this was just a very fast solution and upload to the forums. (I finished the program in under an hour. This post took longer to write than the program!! :confused:)
And finally, this is a VERY ALPHA version of this program. With NO TESTING (well some, just to check that it does what I want it to do). I did not come across any bugs in the 3 minutes I was testing it, but I'm sure, the mischievous lot the Dark Orbit community is, that you will come across a bug or two! If you do just shoot me a PM and I'll fix it and re-upload the file!
How to get it...
1. Download this - [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]. VirusTotal report is here - [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]
2. Extract the ZIP file to a known location (probably the Desktop). If you feel unsure about this, by all means scan for virus's! If you still feel unsure I am happy to upload the source code (C#) for you all!
3. You now need to configure your proxy settings:
Google Chrome
1. Click the Tools [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] menu.
2. Select Options.
3. Click the Under the Hood tab.
4. In the "Network" section, click Change proxy settings . This will open the Internet Properties dialog where you can adjust your network settings.
5. Now click LAN Settings
6. Tick the box Use a Proxy Server for your LAN and in Address put 127.0.0.1 then in Port put 3128.
7. Click OK
Internet Explorer - 7/8
1. Click the Tools button, then click Internet Options
2. Click the Connections tab.
3. Now click LAN Settings
4. Tick the box Use a Proxy Server for your LAN and in Address put 127.0.0.1 then in Port put 3128.
5. Click OK

Firefox
1. Click the Firefox button.

3. Click the Advanced [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] tab.
4. Click the Network tab.
5. Now click Settings...
6. Click the bubble Manual Proxy configuration and in HTTP Proxy put 127.0.0.1 then in Port put 3128. Untick the Use this proxy server for all protocols box.
7. Click OK
4. Now open the folder where you extracted Old Lasers.zip to (the folder will be called Old Lasers) and double click the Old Lasers.exe file.
5. We now need to clear the cache so that the new lasers are GONE! and the old ones are used. To find out how to do that simply visit [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]
6. AND YOUR DONE! Now simply start the game up and see your lasers in all their former glory :)
If anyone has any questions or suggestions I would gladly appreciate them! And yes I am making an Interface for this, this was just a quick solution! You can either PM me your ideas or leave a reply on this post. Heck, if we get enough supporters maybe a friendly forum mod. could do me a favour and sticky this for a while!
