Yep, that's what i do ,

Lock computer + turn off monitor ....and that's it. (looks like sleep mode)

Yes but ur system is still on.My graphic card 9500GT crashed cuz my pc was 6months on :)
Now i bought vps,instead of keep pc on.

my pc makes a little of noise , i close moniter and let it work but i dont bot every night cuz my pc is on my room and i cant sleep well because of the noise on the fan working , one time my pc reach 101 degrees when i was doing a lot of things . WHen i go to school i turn on the bot and wen i go sleep i turn off de pc . but atm i pay for the service of benny to bot more time for 3 weeks

I heard for VirtualBox(It's like a virtual machine on your PC),but i don't know does it works when your pc is in sleep mode.Try looking into that.
Maybe help you,but I'm not sure.

I used kbot and pbdo bot so sleep mode work on my leptop but i had to make some changes ;)
