First of all b4 you ask that question do you even know how to use mySQL, Do you have enough ram and HD space to run the server. 7GB RAM atleast is needed HD would be good to have 1TB. Do you have good internet connection if not then don't even bother trying to set up a server. Don't just think since files are released its easy to set up a server you have to know atleast basic backround of how to use them.

There are no requirements for 7gb , if you wanna play alone you could simply do it on a pc with 2gb of ram and intel pentium 4.

Well my simple reply is. If you don't know how to setup a server. It won't be a good server.

i shall say dual core, pentium 4 is too weak to sql server/server files and client at the same time

hd space not so much, at least 20gb free

also, i recommend having to pc one for client and other for the server

well my laptop Dual-core & 3gb ram = can't even handle yahoo.exe with server files !

Eckoro is right. If you don't even know how to set it up you don't know how to secure it or create updates or backups.

and for the ram usage I think 4gb minimum. I was hitting 98% with all the servers started on my pc and the SMC, client and mssql database on my laptop. and when I shut everything down my ram usage was about 25% so you'll need a lot. Owh and don't forget windows is also using ram and other program running in the background aswell.

Remember that you can't compare a laptop with a stationary pc. The performance on a laptop is crap compared to a stationary one.

Also if you are running it with a dual core. i got an old computer and a newer one, the old one is an intel pentium 4 the core itself is on 3ghz , but you get it to perform at 3,4ghz.

A dual core with lets say 2,2ghz x 2 thats 4,4ghz 1ghz more than an intel pentium 4.

But the most important thing is the RAM memory for a server to work well.

Uuhm that 2,2 ghz x2 thinggy doesn't work like that. I'm not gonna explain how it exactly work but the main advantage is if a app crashes you still have another core so the cpu will only be at 50% with dual core and 25% with quad core ect..

and I think that ram is biggest problem for most problems not the processor and I also think that a pc with 4gb ram has at least a pentium 4 or higher so they'll be able to run it with that processor. you just need enough ram
