[GUIDE] Multi Client VMware setup for any game (pic.s included)

Have you ever wanted to have 2 bots running, a shop setup, and play your favorite character all at the same time on 1 PC? This guide will show you how to do this with the newest version of VMware Workstation 6.5 Beta (free for now).

As many of you may have tried with older versions of VMware playing a lot of games in a virtual machine either REALLY sucked or wouldn't work at all. Well, those geniuses at VMware have pushed getting more and more games to work with there virtual machines and they have made a HUGE jump in compatibilty with the virtual machines and a large number of games.

Since this is the Cabal forum I will use Cabal as the main focus of this guide with the intention of running Cabal Rider and/or TwinR or whatever else you may want to bot/hack with. So here we go...

Recommendations:
Dual Core Processor - Anything less will probably not give good results
At least 2 gigs of ram or more
8600 or better graphics card

You can see my system spec.s in my signature and I can run up to 3 bots with Cabal, 1 or 2 shops, and play cabal full screen from my desktop just to give you an idea of the horsepower needed.

First off, you want to register and download the VMware Workstation BETA 6.5 from [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]. Make sure to copy the key that is provided there as well. You will need to sign up there to download and if you have any problems with setting up an account don't ask me or you will be ignored.

!NOTE! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DOWNLOAD OR USE ANY OTHER VERSION OF VMWARE THAN THE ONE FROM THE LINK ABOVE!

Additional Note: If you have NVIDIA control panel setup. Make sure that Thread Optimization is Off... Don't use Auto or On. This will f you up.

Definitions:
Host is your PC as it is now without VMware
Guest is the Virtual Machine you create within the VMware Workstation application

Don't change settings if you are not 100% positive you know what the results will be. I suggest you build a Virtual Machine exactly as I show here and then clone it. Then play with the clone. :)

Install VMware Workstation Beta 6.5 and restart PC, once installed follow these instructions to setup a guest.

A. This is the virtual machines currently running.
B. These are the virtual machines you have available to run.
C. This is what you will choose to start making a new virtual machine.
D. These are your tabs that you can click on to select that individual "guest" (virtual machine)

[PART 3]A few things to try and tweak your guest and possibly host too. EDIT(6/22/08): ADDED PICTURES OF HOW TO DISABLE NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL THREADED OPTIMIZATION WHICH CAN CAUSE CABAL TO NOT LOAD AFTER THE UPDATE SCREEN.

Since all you will be doing with the emulations is running cabal you will minimize everything that's not needed by windows to give the guests max resources such as:

No desktop background
Turn off themes by using Windows Classic Theme
Set your desktop resolution to 1024x768 16 bit color and cabal to 800x600 windowed
Set windows extras like smooth scrolling scrollbars, smoothed fonts, sliding menus, etc. to Best Performance meaning to disable all of this crap
Turn off System Restore
Turn off Automatic Updates, System Security, Firewall services

These are just services that can be disabled. Do a search through Google on how to streamline Windows for more.

i was trying to dual boxe cabal the same way as u do but game do not initialize, just autoclose after xtrap update, im wondering if it is somekind of xtrap protection

hi there. Same problems as the above. Do you need to update fully sp and such?

When I first setup a guest I run cabal without any bots/hacks. Get in to game and actually log in to character. Exit game and THEN install bot. Like with Cabalrider I will delete the folder off of the guest desktop and install the new one. Start the bot and I'm good to go.

If there is an update then I delete the bot off my desktop. Start up cabal, let it update, log in to character, and then exit game. Install new bot version and start botting.

r u using bypass ?
coz my server, BRazil, uses XTRap so i think without bypass i cant log in the game, if u know any tutos about how to create my own bypass.

do you have any screen shot that you actually made it work like you play on your desktop then on VM ware.... coz in some point cabal just closes down after it loads on the VM!

-i just want some more proof that this thing is working or not so i dont have to waste time tweaking on my system! sorry....

LOL.. you need proof?!? I have a lvl 115 WI, 115 BL, and a 110 WA that's proof to me. If you don't want to try this then that's your loss. You think I would bother putting all this together if I was full of sh!t??? I have some more planned as you see the 2 blank posts. I'll put a screenshot in there I suppose of it actually working... my gosh.

BTW... I don't know if the 6.0 keys will work with 6.5 BETA. I would seriously reconsider using those before signing up and getting one for the BETA itself.

O btw... there was an xtrap update today. Make sure you have your updates AND... DO NOT USE ANY OTHER VERSION OF VMWARE THAN THIS BETA... IT WILL NOT WORK WITH 6.0 OR BELOW!!!

Here you go... check my second post from top. I got 2 vm stores, 1 vm bot, and 1 bot on desktop. I didn't load my blader because Photoshop was using up a lot of ram.

The link takes you to a registration page. You must make a community account and then fill this out(the link) out as well to be able to download and get beta serial.
