Reinstalled XP - Now SRO Wont load up

i just reinstalled XP and silkroad will not go past the splash screen normally or with the loader....i did get it to go to past once, but it was so slow i couldnt log in. now im just getting in the task manager "not responding" the following is installed on my PC


AVG 8.0 - Resident Shield disabled = how i got SRO to actually load once
Spybot 1.5.2 - tryed closing this program and starting SRO
Direct X SDK
.net framework 1.0, 2.0, 3.0
ad-aware 2007
Windows Firewall Disabled
1.4 GB ram (before i reinstalled windows SRO was pretty fast)
Maximum size paging file 5000 MB
Changed resolution from 800x600 to 1024x768
120 GB of space free


So what is slowing down SRO and not allowing it to run like it should? If you want anymore info I can get it for ya. Thanks for the help. Also I cant uninstall AVG it gives me an error.

Try updating your drivers if you reinstalled windows, if you graphics card cannot upgrade anymore like one round my dads house, you will have to get a new one compatible with your computer, You need some good ram 500+, some memory for the game and about 2.4ghz

Thats if you want to play the game well. But i reckon its your graphics driver, reinstall it when you visit the manufacturers website

He has enough RAM, but like Eckoro said could be a graphic Card Problem.
You also didnt wrote anything about the graphic card.

spriggy what do you use as far as virus protection goes?

Norton Internet Security round my mums which is the best but costs, round my dads i just have crack for it.

Try searching around but be weary there a lot of them that are fake like ones you see in ads, or if you have a virus on your computer and it says you are infested get this they are always fake.

I just deleted virus' my self you can find them normally in system32 and windows also local settings, check order to be modified and if you know day you started getting it and it has a wierd name like 35nkgd.dll for example and is new delete it.

If it dont let you delete it rename and move it, so it wont function and you can delete on reboot, or try using unlocker to get rid of virus'.

Bit off topic but you could try that instead of getting virus software

Hi Guys,
This is my first post and suggestion. Even i faced similar problem but reinstalling windows with no antivirus solved the issue. Later you can install any one antivirus. I am using F-Secure.
