GameServer

Arlight, operation Revo has been comeing along, so have it running on windows 7, all the files are put in windows 2000 compatibility mode, and the DB is SQL 2008 R2.

Now everything works when we start the manager, but 30-60 seconds after everything has been checked and cleared, the gameserver.exe crashes, now this is odd as the login server still works and you can create a toon ETC, just not get in game.

Now, what I find most difficult about this is the fact that the log.txt does nothing....me and the other owner of this project have been at it for ehh 3-4 hours, with the installation and getting everything to work, and 2 hours at this, so any ideals and help would be nice xD.

If you would of read the post, you would know everything is put in windows 2000 compatibility mode, so it's like it's in a XP environment, so yes it will work.

The probleme is something with the dekaronserver.exe these are the A9 files by kingtut BTW.

Edit: BTW I can upload SS's upon request.

Never run the system file dekaronserver.exe Vista and Windows 7
Lack of compliance. Besides, I tested on Windows 7 Ultimate x32 + all updates. Modes of compliance, even as an administrator. all other applications in August run a properly without any problem, as is with dekaronserver.exe but to some momętu when dekaronserver.exe wants to connect to Windows 7 castserver is as if the connection attempt is blocked and closed dekaronserver.exe I suspect that this is caused by a lack compatibility of the files of Windows 7

All what i know you can run all in Windows Server 2003 Enterprice x32 and x64

Did you ever look into a fix for this, switching server's would be a MAJOR setback for us.

Have you tried attaching a debugger and see where it crashs? Also there might be a conflict between the server files and Windows ODBC. Have you tried taking down the drivers and replacing them with Windows XP ones? I've had other games not work properly because of it not establishing a connection with database. Then again it could be anything.

I remember this being a problem in the exe.
HellSpider actually fixed this, but it was taken back due to a bug.

Nah, I never made a complete fix for it. I was fooled that the problem was small but there is kinda much to fix (most likely it would pay off easier to code an own emulator).

Most of the problems were caused by strange address allocations. Addresses to the module own functions were stored in memory locations, but the locations differ on Win7/Vista compared to XP.

This means that when the functions should be called, either the wrong function gets executed or then address 0 tries to get executed. :)

Pfft I do stuff like that on a daily basis! :o J/K but really, I do not have the time to make a emulater, as every server we atende to release has a deadline, so we will just run a XP emulation.

I do not know whether it makes sense remodel an application under windows 7 as well work on other versions of widows, such as Windows Server 2003 or Widows Server 2008.

Yes, I thought of compiling this in Windows 7, but I gave up. Just not worth it. Besides, when you start Windows 7 eats much more memory than any other system which is similar to Windows Vista. I wonder just why it is so important that the server has run such a system as Windows 7 A more stable system and is safer than for Windows Server and Windows 7 or Vista.
