When I get an auth or mem error at the character selection screen, I usually wait for everything to load before clicking Start. (about 5 - 6 seconds)

set it to manually click after pleione finishes initializing..

look in mng.ini how to do it, it's literally there.

Just download this :

Also, in the beginning of MNG :

Code:
/************************************************************************
 * MNG Patcher v 3.6                                                    *
 * INI File                                                             *
 *                                                                      *
 * Installation: Rename the original Mss32.dll to Mss32.dln and insert *
 *  this as is.                                                         *
 ************************************************************************/

/* Additional DLL loading, simply add a Load=<name> the <> are not a */
/* part of the line, needs to have quotes around it*/
Load="pake.dll"
[size=10][b]Load="HackSlash.dll"[/b][/size]

/* HS Thread to suspend when it's time */
/* Remember to hit the modal dialog box ok the moment pleione initialization completes */
/* Not before, and a very small window */
HSThread_Skip = 0

/* Load the data folder before .pack */
You just add, Load="HackSlash.dll" .

Maybe try something better than hackslash.. like a proper detour...

OR you could just make your own? :)
