ISP blocking FFXI (anyone got any new ideas?)

First off, If this has been covered before in Barney Style, my apologies. I've searched the web constantly for a month so far to try and get an answer to how to do this...

Heres my delima:

I'm in Iraq (supporting the soldiers, I'm not in the military anymore), and my ISP here blocks all P2P programs (including FFXI) from 8pm-midnight, which is pretty much the time I'm off of work and not sleeping. My wife is in the US and plays also, and has said shes willing to try this if its possible, but her and I are both pretty novice when it comes to setting up networks.

What I need is to be able to have my FFXI data stream through this crappy ISP, to my wifes computer in the US, to POL, then back, without being blocked. My research shows this as either a VPN or a Proxy, and since I know jack about either one, I don't know what to follow... and on top of that no sites that I can find show how to do this, and the ones who have said they know 100% that it will work, have failed.

I do realize the lag this could create, but I'm already on satellite, so it can't be much worse.

I've already asked my ISP to unblock FFXI, and they wont do it because it uses a port range instead of dedicated ports like WoW (they allow WoW, great game, impossible to play a tank on satellite).

I've tried http-tunnel and it didn't work past character selection. ProxyCap+Your Freedom does not seem to find proxy servers that 1) work, or 2) allow P2P.

Please, someone direct me to how to do this, or guide me on what to do.

MyPC > MyBS ISP > WifesPC > POL > and back again. How? What do I need to do, and what does my wife need to do?

Seriously, I'll send a t-shirt or something from Iraq to whoever can get this working for me. I really want to play this game at normal hours again.

Your wife has only 1 PC right?

FFXI supports socks proxy server. If you cannot find a free one, a possibily would be to setup a proxy server at home, running on a specific port your ISP doesn't block.

Another possibilty would be to setup a VPN. Like OpenVPN.

Both methods are somewhat similar with tunneling.

For testing, your wife shoudn't be logged on to FFXI. Oh, and I would also suggest not to have you char standing in Jeuno. I cannot explain it, but I often had problems with Jeuno when my ex-gf was at my place, either me or she DCed when zoning into Jeuno at "Downloading Data" screen. But only happens if we both were logged on.

I'm not very used to proxy & vpn setups... so refer to the corresponding forums :)

ok >.> guess your saying to search more.

Well.... for setting up a proxy server for FFXI, theres "Proxy server address", "port", "Security proxy", and "port". Do I 2 different server IPs and Ports? or can I use just one of these? I've been trying with both, maybe thats my problem if I need only 1.

Tried ProxyCap and Yourfreedom and all that jazz... problem still exists.

I can't seem to find these forums your referring to... please post a link as the search function is broken, bugged, or baby jesus hates me.

Also, I've still been searching how to tunnel my info to my wifes computer but I'm getting nothing on how to do this. Google sometimes returns 0 results.

My wife and I both have WinXP MCE if this helps anyone help me.
