help with ecsro

i downloaded and installed the client along with the two media packs. when i go click on the exe, the ecsro window pops up and shortly after it says "directX 9.0 not installed" and the screen closes. i updated and checked my DirectX but i still get the error, any help please? none of my friends have this problem i think it may be because im running on vista.

If I'm not mistaken, vista needs 9.0c to operate. 10.0 would be better. Try getting that and see if that fixes it.

Edit: i went to the microsoft download page and when i tried to install the program told me a newer or equivalent version was already installed and it closed.

It may be a compatibility problem that the version of Silkroad (1.091) has with vista. When Joymax used this version, vista wasn't released yet.

hmm. well if means anything when the mthc server was down and i would try to play i wouldnt get the directx error instead i would get the server undergoing work message. so i would have to think it would tell me the directx error before the server message so it could possibly be a problem with their make of the pserver?

I had the same problem. Just right klick on silkroad.exe and go to settings (or what It may be called in english). Then go to the compatibility tab and run as windows xp (service pack 2). And press ok and the game should run smooth.

EDIT: I'm running Vista 32-bit right now.
