How does herc hack works?

Hi people


I wanna know how does herc hack works. I know speedhack freezes the character mode value, what about herc hack? And is it still working? Even if it doesn't please tell me how does it work. If possible give an example.

Ps, please do not tell me what it is -,- i want to know how was it discovered etc...

Edit(Add on): Please also tell me what makes the client over look the jump range limit. Eg, how to jump onto walls like normal jumps.

yeah. that's what i want to learn. Using hacks made by others feels so bland... I'd love to learn something from these hack makers.

You make the client think you have 2 of the same weapons. Herc use is done clientside.

Yes i am aware of that, but when i checked out M's source, he is writing different values to 2 different addresses. And, the value did vary a bit for different versions.

Can you advise me on the methodology to find the addresses for held-weapons and the meaning of the values held by the addresses?

equip a weapon, search an unknown value. Equip a different weapon and search for has changed. etc. From there you find were it checks your 2 weapons and sees if you can herc. His 2 patches are most likely je to jmp patches on checks to see if you can herc with the current weapons.
