are proxies any safe?

thats rite , r they? what can i do to protect myself, and what is the proxy idea in general??

what do u expect "backdoor" can do
straight to ur account anytime the creator wants

Not all proxies are like that.

The new cidproxy seems to be safe.

in my opinion there is a difference between
Can and Do
people that can do, doesnt mean they have to do it
on the other hand, people that cant do, they really cant do
so question is...a proxy, is it Can or Do?

Any program which sits between a log-in screen and a server which receives passwords (encrypted or unencrypted) is a bad idea. If you want to use it, just use a frickin firewall which monitors IP address and Port connections. Things like Firewall Plus and Nortons only make rules for the program, not its connections. BlackIce ISS is good.
