What could be causing this?

On Vista/SQL 2005 Express and everything else is working fine. I get the above error (as I'm sure you know) after logging in and selecting the server to play on...

Anyone willing to share their SOLUTION to this?

What part of that is a "solution"? Not helpful at all...

And I've done 5 diff ep5 clients with no luck.

Re-installing ANY app/server is rarely the solution...SOMETHING is obviously not allowing me to connect completely, but I AM able to login so it's got to be something...

Third ..

Did you uninstall (or stop) War game ?
Are you running /nprotectofff when you start your services ?

Ok, First off, not seeing the "again" part as it's the first time I've responded this way...so not appreciating the comment but regardless, Second, hadn't seen the question in other post yet, Your ans -> LinkedServers.txt creates the linked servers in your sql instance: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] , and yes I have gamewar uninstalled or actually never installed. The service isn't even installed so should be no prob there. Third, Yes I am running with both /vchkoff and /nprotectoff.

Now, just a quick comment on your "first off"...I don't see how "help" that was being offered when sometimes (not all the time) seems like ppl just "throwing stuff out there" because they really don't know or just want to appear to help. Now, if it were ppl like yourself actually asking legitimate questions or posing something legitimate to try...not a problem at all.

To have a sputter in the acceleration in your car and ask the mechanic what to do...and he says "get a new car or replace the engine" would that sound like an appropriate response? Yet that was the majority of the replies to this post. It's not my intention to be rude and for the future I may just not respond to that kind of "help" to prevent misunderstandings.

I hope that helps understand my comments a little more. Also, please note, that I DID actually post my resolution to the other thread's issue...in an attempt to give back to this community and hopefully help others with same/similar issues. So the degredation wasn't necessary.

What server files are you using ?
Are you using one of these "installers" that are scattered around the internet?

Is your PSM server manager showing all but GameWar is running ?
Before and after a disconnect ?

Are you even getting to the Char select screen ?
Can you please SS the last thing you see before the blackscreen d/c.

ok, am using ep5 db and client from the adm (friend) of ShaiyaRebirth, not using any of the "installers" in the server folder because they have major path issues with Vista.

And yes, here is a scr shot of my PSM Server:

And no, I'm not getting to the char scr...the following is as far as I can get...and I have TWO client game.exes one to the public ip and one to 127.0.0.1 and neither get any further than the below scr shot.

Any ideas? And thx so far for your assistance...once it's solved I will be sure to post the resolution as well :)

You recieve that error because the ps_xxxxx.exe files from psm_client/bin don't match your dbs.Install a fully ep5 server, without changing the dbs.

Ok, I could agree except I got all the dbs AND the server files from the same source...and it was running live on the net ...perplexing for sure..will check into it tho...thx.

Ok, gave the stuff at the above provided link a try...install went fairly well, but no matter what client I used (even tried the OS client and chgd the ip) but still getting the same error.

Any other ideas?
or maybe suggest a client to use with the server from the above link?

Also, even removed ALL pieces of what I had installed, Went through Omega's tut and used all his files including the client...and am STILL having the same prob...and I've created to game exes, one normal (game.exe) and one for local only...changed ips in the PSMServerMgr and I can't get further than the server select screen STILL!

I'm getting very frustrated...this install went SO much easier than my original too :P
