Just use the alpha channel what editing program are you using?,
If its photoshop go to the channel tab click on alpha should make everything black an white,
Then take a black brush and just brush over the area an that'd remove it.

nah best and pretty much the only way is to use an alpha map(channel) =P

The best way to delete that thing is to use the alpha channel.

first use the polygonal lasso tol and select the area u want to delete
second click channel
third click alpha1
fourth use the paint bucket tool to fill the selected area with color black.

thats it. save it. using explicit alpha
