WARNING : Acclaim may detect modified data.pak

I just find out :

1) If you have 2 files : orignal data.pak and modified one ;whatever files u are using and get to latest 2.8.17 then you can not use the other file anymore . I believe acclaim has added some bytes / header .

2) I do a reinstall and compare the file size between the brandnew data.pak with the old modifed one (vac/immortal/ etc..watever ) and they are not the same ! So, if acclaim might know if they do a file size check .... Be careful on the file size of the latest data.pak

i dont think so. the data.pak is combine on each client different. my friend got some informations on the top of the data.pak and i have the same information in the middle or on the bottom.

so i think each data.pak file is different also without modifying but its just my opinion.

Yeah I dont think that works, because when I fucked up my data.pak, I asked my 2 friends to send me theres, which they did, and both where different sizes to mine... + It didn't work on my client for some reason so I had to re-install.

to got the modified data workin it has to have the same size as the original....

and no: acclaim cant check 1.7 gb, so if u dont act stupid and got screenshotted or sth u dont have to fear anything...

they can't see how big your file is. that is your privacy, and it is against the law and basically hacking your computer....

they can't just go in your files and see what you have

not true, its their files that they put on your computer. remember thats why they have terms of service (TOS). they can check and modify any of them.


and yes they can check your pak file. it does not matter how big it is.

if they want they can check specific areas like monsters to see if it was edited.

i guess only namek303 is a coder/developer or at least know some shit :)

Cosmos : if u do reinstall, the game will go thru each incremental update to the latest patch . So each client gotta go thru the same process .

Whatever u modify is just the text part, not the hex value or binary ... all acclaim needs to do is they just add or remove some ' white space ' to part of data.pak ( that makes the size different but content wise the same) and add some function file size check to dekaron.exe to check and send result to server per launch

But the updates are never combined on the same way. should we compare a hexaddress and a value? i bet 20m dil its different :D

before 2.8.27 i could edit all the monster and only 1 or 2 are invisible.
after: i edit monster all invisible.
can't click them so i can't kill them so i'm back to zero -.-.

solution: dont use stupid monster editor :p

Of course Acclaim can detect data.pak modifications. By modification of config files you modify client data (memory). They don't need to scan you files, just put a validation code in client program that validates monster parameters (mobs AI settings for example).

It is also easy to detect out of game bots, just have unused/reserved bytes (I am sure there are some of them) in the packets and change them every release.

This is just a matter of priorities Acclaim has. Apparently hack/bot detection is not a high priority for many online games.
