Yup, im quitting everything to do with conquer so im going to go there and be "that guy" that releases the c3 converter/importer/loader whatever you want to call it. Have fun.

Thank me if you download, etc etc the usual stuff

What is this?
03/22/2011 20:08 AlexLane10#4
Its the tool quite famously known as the one acme eo used, it can convert the .c3 extension into 3ds etc making nearly everything moddable, it was pretty much 100% private until i released it.

please pm me why it stops working as soon as i open it
03/22/2011 20:41 Kiyono#6
Oh, forcer showed this a long time ago~

can somebody please help me biturn loads and instantly stops working, iv tried running as admin and everythign nothing changes, my Data Execution Prevention keeps closing the program

Keep in mind you can only edit weapon ( and hairstyles ) meshes with it, basically all the static objects.
Converting effects .c3 to 3ds wont work at all and converting armor meshes to 3ds will work, but you cannot modify the mesh at all, it'd be fucked up.

In biturn, if u wanna see the mesh loaded with texture, just do a new folder containing the mesh file and the texture file, and rename both file with the same name
EA: lvl 130 blade, create a new folder with 410330.c3 and 410335.dds in it and simply rename the texture file to 410330.

Thanks to Alex, you guys are now having a free access to thousands of free textured and well-made low polys model made by TQ =) Good or bad news ?O.o

no offense but this doesnt do anything that hasn't been released, years ago in fact yeah? As far as i know there's at least 3 diff custom tools, not including BitTurn. I ended up with 2 of them myself, made by coders from this community.

Am i mistaken, does this one do something new?

Care to post a link to where anyone has released a c3 importer on elite pvpers? I didnt think so because one doesnt exist =d nuff said

oh you just mean something that allows you to grab a c3 and import it into max? Whats the sense of that lol? All ppl need is the exporter and they can make stuff. I guess if they can't outright model something from scratch, they could attempt to mod but, i doubt that person could even do UV's, so it'll be useless because even if you preserve the integrity of the UV's the new shape will stretch and ruin them yeah? So in the end if the person mods an existing item they'll still need to model on some level. Just seems kinda pointless.

And yeah, mine was made by a coder in the community but not released. It wasn't released cuz it wasn't used really. Does yours export with the anim key frames intact or something else that might be useful?

The only other use would be if someone wants the models in some game they're making, or to bring a co object into another existing game. But, why would anyone want to do that, they suck. If this is the case, again all it's done is allow ppl to steal from more sources rather than learn to do it themselves. Sad really.

What its done is opened up the possibility to a select few who actually WANT to learn and discover techniques and modelling ideas from this loader.

If you dont like it, its simple, dont post. Obviously people have found it useful or they wouldnt have downloaded it.

"Times downloaded: 16"

16 people are now able to load c3s into 3ds max and learn from them.

And thats just in 3 days.

All you seem to want to do is keep everything legitimately private, which is fine whilst you're working as competition on conquer, however we both know we have both quit. So why not open up and branch out and help some new people carry it on?

Dont be selfish.

do you know why my data execution prevention keeps closing the program and the program needs to go through DEP in order to work

i dont mean to sound like i'm slamming you man, im not really. i just think your hope that ppl will learn from it is a lil far fetched. they would learn more from watching tutorials than looking at co models, which in all frankness suck. Im not trying to keep anything private. Honestly how can it be kept private when all it takes is watching some tutorials to learn from? I think ppl want to label me as selfish, but i believe my advice has always been the best.

Go to some real tutorials and really learn how to do this.

You're example is like saying i could learn engineering by looking at bridges when we both know that wouldnt work. the model has been converted to mesh at this point and the poly flow is already ruined by the triangulation of the quads. If i could watch a bridge being built tho...that i could learn from. see what i mean? I think ppl serving up short cuts get no-one anywhere. What this does tho, is enable ppl to just steal, outright. Not that anyone would really want to steal these models, at least not anyone with access to better games to steal from.

I appreciate your goal i suppose, i just think it isn't the best tool or advice for aspiring modelers. That's all.

As far as posting, i'll post when and where i like, just like everyone else does.

Dan is kinda right Alex, None can learn modelling by checking TQ models for some reasons: Triangulation, and the fact that those are really low polys, none can start doing so well-detailed and low polys models like TQ does =x

As Dan said, if you're willing to actually learn how to model, make your own model from scratch and convert to c3 : This tool aint made for you.
You can't do anything but loading up static meshes (weapons ) not effects cause of frames and animation not being converted, nor armors cause of the model being flipped animations being fucked up, hair is separated from the body model, we can't modify vertices nor create new ones.

Good things that can be done with such a tool is actually:
- Using it to scale weapons you think that are too big/small/large/thin, just like I made Kyono's Frostmourne smaller, and it's limited, cause keep in mind that glows won't fit well the weapons anymore.

- Checking the lastest weapons/npcs/armors designs in Biturn, without having to add them in-game

That's some good enough reasons for Alex to release this tool I guess ^^

However there's a bad side, Textured .c3s models being available to everybody..
Now that everybody can convert weapons .c3 to .3ds, I don't think i'll release any weapons anymore, I dont know if anyone will. Custom models made by editors and modders from here, can easily get leeched, and as they are higher polys than TQs one, they could be used in other games and everything which wasn't going to happen when there still was the .c3 security to protect our models from being even more leeched that it would..

I don't know if that's worth it, we'll see =)
