Hello community!

I bring you a small plugin for Cinema4D R10 which allows to import and export 3D models.
With this plugin you can edit models geometry and texture maps. You can also create new contents (weapons, shields, new hair styles, etc...). But of course is not that easy to do. There is small example - katana sword for knight. I can write some tutorial later if you want.

Have fun!

EDIT:

You are the best!
If you can still do for the world map, then it would be perfect.

Sorry guys I dont know if this plugin works in c4d demo. When you put it in plugin directory it should be visible in your plugin menu and you dont have to activate anything. Only exporter is in plugin menu. To import you have just to click File->Open (you can load bm or bs). Loader is limited to one object (bm files can store more objects). Also exporter can only save one polygon/mesh object at once with joints of course. If you have more meshes on the scene you should connect them all by selecting them on list (hold left control key to select more objects) and click right mouse button and select Connect from popupmenu.

Small tutorial on how to make sword working in the game (i will skip modeling part)

1. Model your sword/ create texture maps or import from other format from other 3d modeling program.
2. If your sword contains more meshes you have to connect them all into one.
3. Make sure your model is built with triangles if not select it and hit Triangulate from Function menu.
4. Now if you are ready to export your model you have make sure it will fit and match character hand so use File-> Merge and open character hands (xx_hn_000).
5. Select and move / rotate / scale your model to fit character hands. Use front, left views ( small hint: use H hotkey in the view to fit whole model into window)
6. If your model fit nice into hand then you can delete xx_hn_000 object from your scene.
7. Add joint by selecting Joint from Character menu) and rename it to Bone01 (i will explain later why). To rename it select new added joint on the list and in the basic tab - there is Name properties.
8. Select your model and hit Bind from Character menu (this will add Weight Tag to your model - you can notice it on the list; small icon). Click on that tag and you can see there is a list with joints that are attached to your model. Its empty so click and drag your Bone01 and drop to that joint list.
9. Select Weight Tool from Character menu. Look at attributes on right-down screen. There is a Painting tab ( click it and deselect "Visible only")
10. Select Bone01 - when you do that your model should be all black. Thats mean that nothing is attached to Bone01. Now use mouse and paint your whole model (after that your model should be all white).
11. Your model is ready to export!

Some Q & A:

Q: Why Bone01?
A: Because to this joint is attached single knight sword. You can check it by loading some exists weapons.

Q: What if i want to make dual sword?
A: Make everything from my tutorial to point 6. After you fit your model to character hand select Symmetry from Object->Modelling menu. This will add new object (Symmetry) on your scene. Now click and drag your model on list and drop it into Symmetry object. Then select Symmetry obj and click C on you keyboard. Now you have your dual swords. Now step with my tutorial and also add Bone03 (for other hand!) and paint it with Weight Tool..

Its very easy to create: swords, wands, staffs. Its harder to make bow because there are some movable parts. But its still possible.

Im not using the demo version of C4d 10.

I found this on the website for plugin development

Quote:
Distribution
Note that if you wanted to distribute the plugin (once you've changed the plugin ID number - you MUST do this), you must also provide people with the 'res' directory, as C4D uses those files in addition to the binary.

So, a final distribution containing only what is required for the plugin would consist of the following files:-

res/description/Tmytagplugin.h Describes the User Interface in C4D
res/description/Tmytagplugin.res Describes the User Interface in C4D
res/strings_us/description/Tmytagplugin.str Provides names for UI elements
res/strings_us/c4d_strings.str Provides names for plugins
res/c4d_symbols.h Contains internal ID numbers for plugins
res/myTagPlugin.tif The icon used for the plugin
myTagPlugin.cdl The PC/Windows version of the plugin itself
myTagPlugin.xdl The Mac version of the plugin itself
Maybe that is why its not working for me :(

Is it possible that you might publish the file formats descriptors? :)
