As long as you continue to have fun playing their free game right? Edit: Did some math for the NA server. If you buy 10 win IP boosts that is 67 RP per single IP win boost. At best you get 144 RP per USD (7200 RP per 50 USD). So if you go 350 referral you'd get 350 * 4 win IP boosts = 1400 win IP boosts. 1400 * 67 RP each = 93,800 total RP if you had purchased the RP and only used it to buy IP win boosts. 93,800 RP / 144 RP per USD = 652 USD rounded up. So if you can pay less than 652 USD for 350 referrals you will get your money back on the IP win boosts alone. The actual referral rewards would then be bonuses (rare skins, 10k RP). It's hard to put a price on the rare skins but easy to put a price on a referral. Much better to pay for a referral service than buy RP in my opinion. Skins don't matter and you can use IP to buy both new champions and runes. More math: 1 IP Win boost give 145 IP per win in a classic 5v5 on summoner's rift. This does not count the extras for matchmaking or first win of the day or the regular ip reward. 1400 win IP boosts * 145 IP per win = 203,000 total ip. The total cost to buy all current champs is 339,600 ip so you'd need to use some of the regular ip in order to own all of the champs. Total cost of all current champs in RP is 75,660 which is actually less than the cost of the win boosts now that I think about it. A game lasts at least 20 minutes. It can be faster if your team does really well but most likely it will last to at least 20 minutes when the losing team may surrender. 1400 win IP Boosts * 20 minutes per game = 28,000 in game minutes = 467 in game hours = 20 days in game. So actually it may be better to simply buy RP directly from Riot. If any of my math is off please let me know. I'm doing this stuff on the side while compiling projects for my job. It really is interesting how Riot has created this free-to-play game that could have be so much more in depth than it appears on the outside.
