Argh I had to reinstall mabi after I used this...

then you did it wrong...
UT is just a data folder; it should be updated enough not to cause client or hackshield errors but
if for some reason its not then deleting race.xml, propdb.xml or itemdb.xml could be the problem.
gerentxparty doesn't work on every pc so at most you would have had to do is replace the original bdcap32.dll or dbghelp.dl;l you should have got a backup to those with .dllx or .dlx at the end of the filename.
and if thats the case then just use a data folder patch like the ESL.dll i uploaded with UT.

How strange installing Gerent and/or UT cripples my client. Deleting propdb or something of that fashion and the crash is delayed until I login. I suppose I'll just have to wait until the next update.

Read the ENTIRE filename next time?

Delete the ItemDB, or just remove the DB folder completely.

I will try the aforementioned suggestion. I was under the impression I've tried it but after the dozenth time I must have made terribly inaccurate decisions that mounted my frustration. I'll list my actions this time.

1.) Double-click MabinogiSetupLight75R.exe and wait until Chinese New Year for the application to load.
2.) UAC asks for confirmation. I click 'Okay' and installation is go.
3.) Mabinogi patches. Once complete I close the client launcher and open UT. I confirm UAC and the data folder is installed.
4.) I launch Mabinogi and login. No visible changes.
5.) I logout and extract the ESL files. I place them in Mabinogi's folder.
6.) I launch Mabinogi and login.
7.) "client.exe has stopped working".
8.) Uninstall Mabinogi

7.) Uninstall Mabinogi
8.) I delete the entire DB folder.
9.) I launch Mabinogi.
10.) "client.exe has stopped working".
11.) Uninstall Mabinogi

its hard to say without knowing the errors you actually ran into instead of just "client.exe has stopped working" but how about trying the older gerent

and you don't have to uninstall each time, the dll files have backups so that you can delete the modified ones and rename ie ESL.dlx to ESL.dll
and when you tried with modified ESL.dll and got the error did you try removing the data folder to see if it was an xml or the dll at fault?

12.) "client.exe has stopped working".
13.) Restore race.xml, delete propdb.xml
14.) Launch Mabinogi and login.
15.) No visible changes.
16.) Restore propdb.xml
17.) Reread Shaggys post from the last page.
18.) I extract GerentxParty Basic v76 and replace the dbghelp.dll in Mabinogi's folder.
19.) I launch Mabinogi to receive an application error.
20.) I drag over dbghelp.dllx to the Mabinogi folder
21.) I launch Mabinogi and login.
22.) "client.exe has stopped working".
23.) I extract ESL.dll and drag it to the Mabinogi folder.
24.) I launch Mabinogi and login.
25.) "client.exe has stopped working".
26.) I drag ESL.dllx to the Mabinogi folder.
27.) I launch Mabinogi and login
28.) Chat-filter initiated. I can curse.
29.) No CP-reader. Default Nexon font.
30.) Count my blessings and play the game.

I didn't need to reinstall all of those times? Oh. Yikes. Heh. And--I tried removing the data folder earlier in the morning but can't recall whether or not the client worked or crashed. It's working fine now--I plan to install your Autobot not only for the functions but for the glorious text change. I thank you and I thank adam_j for your help with my endeavors.

Well I used UT's data folder with the modified ESL.dll that you included. It made UT work, but only parts of it. So far it the unlimited party board and some other things don't work. Hence why I said I'm waiting on the working and updated UT mod. You know, the one that's not just a data folder & doesn't require a 'fix' to get part of it to work. =)

why am i crashing whenever i change channels?
