I understand the sarcasm, but this forum is trashed. I'd have to be out of my mind to put the opinions of some random kid before my education and future career in Software Engineering.

Edit: As far as the status of this project goes, it's frozen until I can get more information about what's expected of me.

Hey everyone. I know I'm going to make a few people mad today, but that's fine. Starting arguments on the internet really isn't that hard, but if you follow along and keep reading, hopefully there won't be any problems (not that there's anything you can do about it).

Burning Skies will continue under the same namespace "Project Ippiki-Ookami"; however, I've been researching into data structures and data management models, and I've decided to restart the project under a completely new software model. This was a difficult decision for me. Throwing out my old work and starting completely new on a new model, with a new focus on design instead of just implementation, was hard; however, if I continue designing with the new model I've created, not only will there be a massive performance boost in the server, but I'll have a more impressive project to show educators.

My career path has changed to a more defined focus in Software Engineering: Software Design. Although software implementation is a promising job, my passion lies in the challenges of designing software. This project has helped me figure that out. My goal is not to complete this project. My goal is to have a working implementation of my design by Spring 2013. I can't tell you why, but I hope you understand. I can't say it enough, this project is for education and research.

I've also been looking into software copyright laws and I've created a new legal document giving me full rights to my project and to the Conquer Online client. After negotiating with NetDragon Websoft, they have acknowledged my rights:

"According to Copyright Act of 1976, and the Fair Use, you're granted access to the content for your research, but you should keep in mind that we, the copyright holder, have exclusive rights to the content, so act within the guidelines."

The legal document protecting my development will be public within a few days before I begin development. I'm taking the appropriate steps in developing a private server, and if you all want to do this for your education like I am, this is how you do it. I'll be keeping the old posts on this thread for anyone interested in how I modeled those systems. The main post will be updated when development starts again.

Amazing things are happening because of this project. Hopefully, even though my server has never been online, it's helped some of you see what you can really do with a project like this.

Cheers,
Spirited Fang

Can I haz first login again?:(

I'm always there to do some code review, if you want :)

Burning Skies has a legal statement online now. The project has been copyrighted. All original content created under the Project Ippiki-Ookami namespace is my property. The idea and storyline is protected under my legal document. You can view my statement here:

I don't see why not.

Alright. Take one was learning C#, take two was learning how to implement things, this take is for software architecture. I highly doubt that there will be anything beyond this project - so if you have any ideas about approaches to programming (since there are so so many), just let me know. :)

I've been really focusing on design. The GUI I've created for the server is very fluid and user friendly. As you work with the database data inside of the windows, the GUI changes according to how you're changing data (it predicts what you want to do with it very accurately and efficiently). I had a few people use it and they were very pleased. Here are a few pictures of my Account Server's progress.

Don't let this window scare you. The server supports the ability to be subscription based. That doesn't mean that it's activated or that I'm considering activating it. It's just a show-off feature for companies and universities.

Edit: I fixed the spelling mistake. The window now reads "IP Address Management".

That's it so far. Account authentication is now complete, so is the IP banning system and server connection system. The account to world server transaction is next on my list. Cheers.

Very stylish work

Dude, you pay attention to the design more than the actual programming work. STHAP ! You will be the only one to use those game server tools, made them look clear enough and put some effort onto the actual coding. Get it done already, you tired us about how tidy you are.

By the way, where do you get this shitty names? Project Ippiki-Ookami? SOUNDS LIKE CRAP and it's in fact, crap :D

@Arco.
Took me a minute to realize your sarcasm =D (until I saw your title)

It seems like the same flames are going around again and again. I've stated before that this project is for education. Professors look at my project. Universities look at my project. Game companies look at my project. I do live demonstrations of this project for the entire computer science department whenever asked to. Absolutely none of you come close to being as important as my education and future career, and none of you have any rights to complain. It's very ironic really. You all are complaining on how long it's taking me, yet all you guys do is argue about pointless shit like my project name. As it stands:

4botters has suggested 12 ideas to me.
My friends have suggested 7 ideas to me.
The official co forum has suggested 6 ideas to me.
My forum has suggested 3 ideas to me.
Epvp hasn't suggested anything.

Get your shit together Elitepvpers. This is sad.

I'll just have to tell you what I have said before, if you dislike the community, nobody is forcing you to stay here, all I have been seeing is you bragging about something that many people has done before, you don't like others arguing with you, then stop talking like if you were superior to everyone else, when you simply aren't, people earn the respect from others, something that you are pretty much demanding, and that way, you won't get it.

Now let's go on topic here; I do like the GUI that you showed there, I myself am developing a tool really similar like that, yet not for CO and most likely on a different language; now, how is that you are doing that "the software knows what users are going to do next" exactly, if you don't mind me asking for that?

Without people like me doing tours in Afghanistan preserving your freedom, I think I come close to being important to your education ;)

I suggested you leave many a times! So don't say this forum hasn't suggested anything.

I have an education in programming using C# and ASP.NET, pretty sure that kills your argument.

Epvp: 1
Fang: 0

We shouldn't be arguing about this though, when someone feels he/she is better than everyone else, the only way to go is by ignoring those statements; I myself have a basic technician degree on software design and development, and started my IT Management major at the beginning of this year, but I am far from being "good" and I come here to read, learn and whenever I have the knowledge, help, if I don't have the knowledge but know where someone could go to check, I will do that as well...

Now, let's try going on topic, there is no point on arguing, we can all just ignore certain parts of certain posts and focus on the important parts of them, as I stated, I am interested on knowing how "it predicts what you want to do" as it sounds like something interesting to try

Hey Elitepvpers,

There is no argument. There is no right or wrong person because these are all valid questions and concerns. Since these questions and flames keep coming up, I'm just going to answer them. I don't want more arguments because I refuse to answer questions about my motives. I'll try my best to clarify them now.

The reason why I stay at epvp is because I have contacts here. Since I have to stay to contact certain people, I decided to try to get the most out of it and post about my development here. I try to involve all of you because I feel like I'm making this server public for all of you.

My development is in no way, shape, or form, profit for me. I plan on donating surplus profit to charities and universities. I don't know why people try to criticize me like I'm some animal in stock exchange. I'm just a student, and I'm just trying to teach myself programming techniques.

I've seen the education thing come up a lot. I worked really hard towards getting rights to use the NetDragon Conquer Online game content. The project is completely legal, and I can use that to display my programming techniques to professors and other developers. I perform live demonstrations of it on campus at the end of every semester. I demonstrate the use of abstract classes, debugging techniques, and other things that the CS 1A - 1C students learned about. I also use it to gain access to research groups at different universities. Because of this project, I now have connections with my dream school, 11 connections within Blizzard Entertainment's networking and game design departments (and a tour coming soon), and the department chair of the computer science division on my resume. This took a lot of my time, but that's why I continue with Burning Skies. It's helping me progress as a Software Architect.

I know you all haven't seen my programming in a very long time, but I've really improved. At the end of the day, I'm not demanding for respect. I'm just surprised that this community can't at least remain polite with me. If you have any further questions, I guess I'll try to answer them. I really want these arguments to stop. Thanks.

Regards,
Spirited Fang
