I actually find that badge really cool. Besides one (or was it two?) years of free Premium, you get nothing for having been moderator - which is fine, because you do it voluntarily (at least you should). Now you got that badge, which, for me, is stating: "Hey Nomad, thanks for doing all that mod stuff and shit back then. Here, have a badge."
I know that some think people only want that rank to be better than the rest. Not true. It's a symbol given to me by the administration, thanking for what I have done. It's not about the rank, but about emotional value.
