ACME Crafting BOT

It can be a good idea to help, but i guess behind that you kinda looking to improve your bot ^^ trying it in free version and compare to acme work it's really a pain... maybe i'm not using it right but with acme i used to just take a lot of thing i want to craft and then it say what need to be craft to make it and i just have to make it craft before, always hq, acme bot is a masterpiece... i'm so sad to have discover it just before it got off...

Even if i love the work of acme i prefer to see it dissapear then have people make money over it ... it's just that i don't understand why people who sell their bot 10S a month would like to help a free bot who make a lot of concurence... i prefer acme to let his bot fall then give it to people who make money over it

There are ways to help without obtaining the source code. No reason to expect any ulterior motives - I offered the same thing a year ago.

I really miss this bot. =( I haven't crafted in weeks.

As far as I know, there isn't even anything else to use in the meantime. Only other bots I can see that even offer crafting require subscription and they make you put in the rotation yourself. Of course I'm not that great at looking for bots, so could be one I'm unaware of. =(

What are we supposed to do? Is another bot author just going to have to take over and start from scratch? I can try to help come up with the algorithm for skill selection, but I know zip about the actual process of making a bot.

I mean at some point we have to assume he's not coming back. Which sucks, I hope he's okay, but there's now a crafting bot void that needs filling. =/

I'm glad that I haven't donated to Acme.
This lazy ass shouldn't get any cent.

Donation is not a payment!
With the kind of manner, ACME will never give us a new version. Don't be so rude...
but... it not very nice... to take donatation and than not even tell... if there will be a new version.

Please ACME, tell us... what is going on...
The patch have not changed that much... its maybe a recompile...
pls... give us a new version.

Yeah if I were a developer this kind of attitude would be a quick way to guarantee I didn't bother continuing a project like this ever again. The entitlement around here is sickening and is why we can't have nice things.

Came back after a long break from the game to see Acme absent and some people being jerks about it. What is wrong with people that they'd be so entitled about somebody's free side project?!

Acme, when you see this - thanks for everything you've done, and anything you choose to do in the future. And if you did drop off the face of the earth and never see this (doubtful, but yaknow...), I still appreciate it.

Ya, I donated, and I don't regret it at all. Even for the little bit I got to use the bot, it was awesome and worth my donation imo. And if he's not coming back, totally fine, his right. But what do we do in the meantime? Sit around with our thumbs up our butts?

I've got a lot on my plate right now, but if Stormblood comes out, and I level cap all the battle classes and maybe the gatherers too (since I don't plan to craft a thing without a bot), and there's still no good crafter bot to use, I might try my hand at making one. But I'm hoping either someone else does long before that or better yet Acme comes back.

Use this as an opportunity to get motivated? I know I have XD. Finding the skills doesn't seem "too" hard so far, but I haven't tried to find the pointers. And from there it's translating it back to code... I wonder if there's a standard library that people are using for their applications. Probably not.

The hardest part IMO would likely be the algorithm. That or how to best handle all the gritty features like interrupt requests, pausing, etc. Jelio already has a good portion of the other stuff, it's the algorithm that is tricky to do.

I'm thinking about giving it a go for something else I want to do, but maybe mimicing someone might be a better start.

As far as algorithm, I can help fine tune that, but to get started, you could use the optimizer: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

Only issue is that it solves from the start of the craft and can't adapt to changing conditions on the fly for stuff like ToT, etc. It also has a tendency to keep trying to increase quality even after it's at 100%, wasting time and effort. That was the main reason I loved this bot more than using the optimizer. (Being able to queue up hundreds of items and then walk away from the computer was also really nice.)

The biggest thing is in order for it to be accurate, it would need to have a way to calculate the expected progress or quality increase when an action is performed, counting recipe level, character level, stats, and any buffs that are up. The optimizer site and Acme's bot already pretty much did this, but I don't know any good way to reverse engineer this except to capture that data on the fly and then refer to captured data for future estimates.

Like I said, though, I can help with the crafting algorithm. I can write it all out in pseudo-code for you. Essentially the algorithm would quickly run through all the possibilities, pick the one that is most likely to succeed with the least amount of steps, and then do the next step in that process.

Ideally it could recalculate after every step, but a way to save time and increase speed would be to queue up a couple steps and guess what's going to happen; if events match the guess, it continues from the queue rather than recalculate the entire optimization over again. Etc.

Algorithm design is my forte and one of my favorite aspects of programming. =D I just have no idea what language you'll be programming in so I would have to give it as pseudo-code.

I'd assume it's pretty standard to do C# these days. My degree took me through C++ and Java, but learning a language isn't too hard. I wonder what the other free bot creators use on here language wise to keep consistent?

I recommend you start here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]. It's a similar approach to Acme's.

lokyst uses a genetic algorithm which isn't very well suited for the crafting minigame. It will settle on good enough solutions when better are available, and is probably hard to tune.

Maybe start a thread if you are serious about it. This is too hard for me, and I'm interested in working on navigation right now.

That said, if you make a dll that I can send the current game state to and it will return what button to press, that would be very easy to wrap up in a front end.

In high school I got turbo PASCAL which was supposed to intro to C except I graduated before they started that class.

In college I got Java, basic HTML (like up to 3.0 even though 5.0 was already out), PHP, SQL, and Visual basic. I wanted C or C++ but again it just wasn't offered or it conflicted with my schedule. =/

I also self-taught a bit of LUA somewhere in there from debugging WoW addons.
05/03/2017 14:26 CPCS0101#1064
Seems to be the norm nowadays lol. Can a program be built in LUA or is it strictly scripting I wonder. I didn't dabble long in it.

The only language I know how to actually turn into an executable file that you can run on a computer is Visual Basic, and they went over that subject really quickly. =/

I've only had 2 years of education...would love to have more, if I could afford it.
