[Tutorial] Shaiya Updater

I haven't been using Webs since I made the tutorial, I'm sorry to all the new readers if its been making stuff worst for you. I'm currently looking into it. I will also make a new tutorial on making an updater and a better one too... there is no eta but I will do so as soon as I have some time on my hands

Well alright guys, here's the answer on your .c25 error and .webs error... after I went back and tried a few things I finally got it to get the error everyone was talking about... Now taking in consideration that your using Patch Maker and not Lilprohackers tool... I have no problem whatsoever on his tool but when I started, his software didnt make patches at the time... anywho on to the fix shall we...

- Seems I have overlooked a small explanation when Zipping your patch
so everything up to renaming you data.sah, data.saf to update.sah, update.saf is fine

- Select both files in your folder, (update.sah, update.saf) and right click, 7-zip, Add to Archives... if your using another type of zip, just add them to a new archive.

- Read carefully, when it opens it saves as a default name such as files.zip...DO NOT CHANGE IT... leave it

- Archive Format, Zip
- Compression level, Normal
- Compression Method, Deflate
- Update Mode, Add and Replace files

once you click ok it will create the default name folder with you 2 other files... now you may change it to ps####.patch

.c25 is an open file error so therefor changing the name before you make the .zip is actually creating a .patch which could not be read by anything. Hope this helps

well first thingy is mime files is needed with iis6+. you need to be abel to got to the site you have like [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] have to open or download + [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] files need to be downloading too for the updater to work. if not and your running this from a site or iis 6+ you need to add them to mime files

well i have a question too:

is there a way to update the normal updater and yes i found a new os updater thingy but havent tried that yet. i just want a new updater if say i find a new site i want to use or new host i need to transfer it over there (new updater with new ip's). like game.exe you can just add in a ps0xxx file and it updates it self easy :.-) but when i try that wioth updater i get an error. is there other stuff i need to chan ge mabe and if so where? i know i can upload it to the site and so but updates works for ppl he he not always changing the updater them self. (alot of antivirus block the programs)

Your Webs account is provisional and has a few restrictions.

You can only upload files up to 750K in size. You cannot rename files. You cannot upload certain file types, including but not limited to .html, .exe, and .zip.

Alphayomer1 you can simply make it from your Root install xampp 1.7.1 - 1.7.3 in PC then go C:/xampp/htdocs and put there CONFIG.ini then near create a Shaiya folder on this put the UpdateVersion.ini then create 1 more folder named patch.
Open Updater.exe in HxD then search for http:// write there your Public IP after search for TEST_IP write there too your IP save and close.
Run updater and your done. (all you need is an higher Upload Speed).

After hours worth messing with this im still getting a download failed: read filec08. I have checked paths to both config and update ini and everything is good. I have seen in this tutorial that some have said to save CONFIG.INI and CONFIG.ini anyone know what one is the right one?

1. CONFIG.INI is in root directory
2. Shaiya folder has been made in root
3. UpdateVersion.ini has been put in Shaiya folder
4. patch folder all lower case has been made in Shaiya folder
4. Patch has been made and tried with both 7zip and winrar saved then changed to patch number 1 above current and put in patch folder. I have also tried to use both LPH and Shaiya make to make these patches.

My current version is 122 so all patches I am trying are ps0123.patch

Any help would be greatly appreciated

if your using IIS you need to make patch files downloadable

Thanks for the reply but I am not using IIS.

ok, finally got the updater to dl the patch but it goes into my shaiya folder and I get a C++ runtime error. I looked through the threads and still dont see a fix for this. Is this a debugging error?

I do see in one of your post that you fixed the error by not using the same file? Can you explain to me what you ment by this. Did you mean that the file that you were using for the update was the same as in the client already?

I finally have the C++ error gone by changing the version numbers. Now I get the file it downloads and shows completed but there are no changes, any help would be appreciated.

there are many things with it
but first are you sure the file name inside the patch is update.sah & update.saf ?
then are you sure the config.ini exist in the server ?
then are you sure in the UpdateVersion.ini
PatchFileVersion=

and inside the Version.ini CurrentVersion=
the patchFileVersion is more than CurrentVersion ?
check these and tell me
