I think I see a possible reason for this problem. The multiclient fix modifies the conquer.exe file using a hex editor to change the string "Englis" to something else. When I try to edit my existing conquer.exe file, that string doesn't exist, but I see it in the fixed file. I am going to try to reinstall conquer and update it again to see if possibly there are 2 versions of this file out there. It doesn't make a lot of sense that they would have 2 versions floating around, but it's a possibility. I sure miss being able to open more then 2 clients.[/b][/quote]
OK, I think I found a solution to this error message. At least it worked for me. I uninstalled Conquer, deleted all the files left in the Conquer folder, and reinstalled using the conquer0529.exe file that is available using one of the torrent programs, and may be the same one you get from the website. I used the torrent file because I already had it.
After I installed, I started the game without installing any patches from the Conquer site and let it auto patch instead. After the autopatch, I checked the conquer.exe file, and sure enough, it now has the correct string to edit in the file. Once I edited it, I can log in with more than 2 characters. :D So if you had problems getting this error, try this method and see if it works. Good luck.
