I think I see a possible reason for this problem. The multiclient fix modifies the conquer.exe file using a hex editor to change the string "Englis" to something else. When I try to edit my existing conquer.exe file, that string doesn't exist, but I see it in the fixed file. I am going to try to reinstall conquer and update it again to see if possibly there are 2 versions of this file out there. It doesn't make a lot of sense that they would have 2 versions floating around, but it's a possibility. I sure miss being able to open more then 2 clients. :angry:

I havn't bothered to check if any of this stuff stopped working with patch 4335.. frankly, its toooo much to go through every time, lol. Tell me please if anything stops working.

I would just like to know when it is safe to use the cracked version when it is released again. I hate to waste time in tg.

And before anybody says Mrteenies is better and works for all patches, guess again. It does work but His installs old files. Which over write the newer files that are in Patch 4331, no changes to these files after that yet.
If you open up his install you would find these>

Mrteenis files he uses are old:
3DEffect.ini 301 kb modified date of 10/20/05
3DSimpleObj.ini 7 kb modified date of 11/13/2005
Don't know what patch there from.

Patch 4331 files that I used are:
3DEffect.ini 422 kb modified date of 11/17/2006
3DSimpleObj.ini 9 kb modified date of 11/07/2006

I also removed the original 3DEffects.ini (patch4331) file from my tool now. In hopes of making it more future proof. It just comes with 0kb 3DEffects.ini file now, which is used to switch out your current one. This is the file that gets rid of the effects.
I also removed the original 3DSimpleObj.ini (patch4331) from my tool too. For reasons mentioned above. It comes with eddited 9kb 3DSimpleObj.ini file which is used to switch out with your current file. This one I'll have to update as they (TQ) adds to it. This one gets rid of arrows.
My batch file includes 2 pauses in it so you see the batch on screen and must confirm it with hit any key to continue. So you see that it's working. Unlike Mrteenies that flashes so fast that you might and up clicking twice and not know it.

So if you have used or installed Mrteenies since Patch 4331 you'll have to get patch 4331 files again from here>

OK, I think I found a solution to this error message. At least it worked for me. I uninstalled Conquer, deleted all the files left in the Conquer folder, and reinstalled using the conquer0529.exe file that is available using one of the torrent programs, and may be the same one you get from the website. I used the torrent file because I already had it.

After I installed, I started the game without installing any patches from the Conquer site and let it auto patch instead. After the autopatch, I checked the conquer.exe file, and sure enough, it now has the correct string to edit in the file. Once I edited it, I can log in with more than 2 characters. :D So if you had problems getting this error, try this method and see if it works. Good luck.
