Why release something? Keep it private reduce these shit fuck servers. And make 1 or a few public decent amazing gameplay servers. Simple but people wanna act "KraL" and release something easy to hack thus fucking it all up.

Shit i got my DB from that shitty KaRa release i said it once i'll say it again i don't care for my server i opened it so people can Kid out and do dumb OP shit. Not a serious server. If i was being serious i'd get a Pro Team.

Someone else who had the files could release them for fun or to piss someone off. If cherno wouldent release them that doesnt mean only him and some other people would have it. And among them would be someone who would release it for fun ( this is a scenario in which cherno didnt released the files and only a few servers were out there)

Everyone makes mistakes and does things without seeing the fully consequence of their action and cherno is one of them

Well, that's not necessarily true. There were like 10 of us who had the files before Chernobyl released them, and none of us actually wanted to release them to public, and if Chernobyl didn't release it, believe me, it'd be private, unless someone else would hack into vSRO testservers to obtain them and release.

I knew the people who had them, and none of them were willing to share the files.

of course but like i said that doesnt mean only 10 people would keep on having them , sooner or later someone would share with a friend , or sell it or something > chaos.

In my opinon releasing the files for educating purposes wasn't bad at all - the real mistake was/is to release pre-prepared databases.
Some people might wake up in the morning and think to themselves, "Oh I feel like founding a server today, lets pick one of those well prepared ones at the forum and I'll be ready right away."

If the files weren't released at all I wouldn't have ever started with sql which I totally enjoy now - and I'd surely miss it ;o

Like someone said, server files were to be leaked anyway. The best thing people can do is to try to create flawless server which would be liked by everyone, which is (almost) impossible, silkroad doesn't have a thing which would attract 3k people to one server. IMO only thing which would cause alot of players to play in one server would be new race. So either someone create and release new race, or gtfo.

on ur server i dont spent time xd i only spend time when i going back to my other world :P out of SRO

imo, back then when the files were fresh released, those free silk, high rate servers were fun cuz we never had such things in isro or any pserver, but now, im bored of that kind of servers and i miss those old isro days, i want a copy of isro but with a bit higher rates and no bots. THATS IT!
