@[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] i have an suggestion for you.
Could you give us info about your work progress every week? I mean changes, repairs and etc etc. It would be nice to see that this thread is visited by you i don't mean like you don't do it, because i don't know that, but it would looks much better if you can expand your activity here. I bet many people are curious about your progress. :)

I would like to do that. But there's not much to update people about. I mean, there're tons of things but they're not necessarily interesting to most people since they're specific technical details. As an example, let me write down what I've been doing for the past week and a half:

Until recently, the emulator didn't have a fixed game loop where the game logic was updated at certain ticks. Instead, it used IOCP threads for message processing and all sorts of things. For systems which required an update at certain ticks, I used new threads. At first, it wasn't that bad since I didn't have many systems, but currently I have more than a dozen of systems which need to be updated at certain ticks. So, for the past 10 days I've been refactoring both login and game servers to become more single-threaded. Currently, only multithreaded part is networking which handles connections and sending/receiving data. Another benefit I gained from switching to single-threaded game loop is that I no longer need to use 'locks' to synchronize shared data. It may not sound like much, but in a server application where all you do is managing data it's a huge relief.

^ You see my point. That's not very interesting for many people. Though, I also understand that people want updates more often. Fair amount of people invested time sharing their thoughts in this thread and participating in early test so it's natural that they don't want it to be a waste. I will try to create a page on the website with what's currently working, what's missing and what I'm currently working on.

now classic is trying to update ....

going to be to many AL servers soon ....

i wish Ossiy could get this online sooner because i know what is going to happen now, people will play this new classic AL or play justac or play none of them because they are burnt out with money spent in too many places and will say fck AL all together.

Will be 3 servers online all with low populations .....

I think majority will play on whichever server is offering the best service. It used to be justac, now it seems to be classic-al due to terrible updates on justac.Maybe it'll be justac again in future. Or maybe the game will die for good.

I'm pretty sure justac would be much more active right now, if it wasn't for the rushed updates which, to me, seems like an attempt to generate as much money as possible with the least effort. Running the client turns your computer into a zombie due to unnecessary protection they added to prevent 'illegal programs'. That itself is enough of a reason for me to stop playing a game. /rant off.

I think it boils down to how much fun players can get from playing on your server. Lately I've been spending tremendous amount of time trying to create tools so that I could create quality content for the next year and years to come. Nobody knows if Archlord will survive that long or not. It's just so that I don't say "Oh man, I wish I created some tolls back when I had the time." in case the game and my server survives that long.

IMHO, this game still has the potential to have about 3.000 active players with a perfectly stable + perfectly managed server. And we all know how much fun the game is when there're that many players. I'm a rookie programmer and an amateur admin at best. Can I create the server I mentioned above? Probably not. But what's the harm of trying?
