u are usind windows vista or higher ?!
try this: Create a shortcut of Silkroad.exe on your desktop, rightklick on it, choose "compatibility" and klick on windows xp. Safe and enjoy.
If this is not working , i will try to solve, and tell you how to...

Just change compatability mode in your SRO Directory for the launcher, if you still get problems then do it for the SRO_Client too.
Also run as admin!
