This is old, I investigated it a while ago.
Even if you could remove the notification that you need three slots, I'm quite sure that it checks for the three slots before the prize is actually calculated serverside.
you are rather slow, now we are investigating the '24 ghost' relation to time : '24 hour' relation to sockets/elites.

Aren't the ghosts in a circle formation? like a clock? if so, thats a clue right there.

no.. not all the ghosts, there's quite a few in the middle

:/ I dont get it...

you have six (different tokens), get on death tactic, and than ?

I thought there is only one "ghost" to give your tokens to...can somebody explain more?

When you go through the moonbox quest to get your moonbox, you see a ghost... try hopping around the map you will see more ghosts. Hope that answered ur question :)

After you give your tokens to that ghost he teleports you to another map with many ghosts.

and all the ghosts in that map do the same thing, give a moonbox.

Except, we're investigating whether or not these ghosts do something else, underneath it all (ex. determine luck for sockets)

I already did try 40 moon boxes at once, well not once but twice, and I got nothing.

Btw, thanks for bumping this 5 month old thread.

id have to say the ghost you choose seems same as all others i did 20mbs 2 days ago and used the same ghost got 3x elites, 1 uni, 3 refi, and a bunch of mets.

i remember before 2.0 and before a patch in 1.0 it was possible to fill up 39 items and a mb and try to open the mb if it didnt open it had 2+ items if it did open it was normally an eli/super or soc item. since then tho as far as i know thats been patched but who knows theres probably some way shape or form to make it happen again :) dunno how but anythings possible. :)

EDIT:
Was just thinking we have reason to believe most if not everything is based on time rather than luck etc. for example getting dark robes xx:13:00 always produced a darkrobe i got 8 that way thanks to anhang (sorry if name misspelled)
sockets we somewhat determined the best time for them was xx:33 of course that hasnt been thoroughly 110pct confirmed. now supposing basing things on time is true. what we would need to do is assemble a team of say 24 people who have 60 mbs to play with and can sync their system clocks down to the millisecond with co's server time. (if someone know the time server they use (if they use one) please post as syncing will be very easy then) now each of those 24 people gets assigned a 1 hour block that is convienient for them in that hour every minute on the minute a mb gets opened and contents recorded as well as the time. we compile the results wait 2 days (or however long it takes for each person to get 60 mbs) then run the test again compiling the 2 trials results if we see patterns in the results between test 1 and test 2 then we can continue until we have 4-5 sets of test results and that should tell us the best times to get eli/super and soc items or just items of value in general. now remember this is just in theory and i doubt we could accomplish coordinating all this but in theory if co is based on time and nothing truly random then this theory would work.

CO uses PST time, GMT -8

also, wouldnt it be much easier to open the mbs with a bot of some sort?
Bots don't need bathroom breaks ;)
and also, a bot could probably open it more accurately (exactly on/within milliseconds of the minute) than a human could.

just adding my 2 cents :P

mortu: theres no reason to delete the file, it's been tested and doesnt work. (it will give you an error message (I think :P) and not open the box)

tried using the itemtype_editor thing.after loading the itemtype.dat, ive notice there are 32 moonbox ID's so i tried renaming them from moonbox1 to moonbox32, then save. i log on then do the quest for 20 times and still only 1 reveals.. all are moonbox1. prolly it means its random or something..

I'm guessing tht the reason there are 32 different moonbox IDs is because there are 32 different prizes/combos you can get. a long time ago there was a hack to tell what was in a mb before you opened it, and I'm betting that the IDs corresponded to a prize and by renaming thm you could tell what was in each (so you knew which 1s to open and sell :P) (I dont actually know any of this, I wasnt around at the time :P) The reason they are still there is (probably) that TQ just made all MBs the first ID and made the prize "random" (complex algorithm, etc. etc. :P), and being lazy asses, never removed the other 31 IDs.

1ce again thats a theory, not a fact :P

i tried it with the thanksgiving quest for the dark robe. it didnt work. i was wondering if i could do that too.
