Zygor guides updater

Whoever said, that there's a "war" - He's wrong. There's no war and i've never started any. All i did was banning people for playing against my rules. I've never said, that no one is allowed to come up with their own method of distributing the guides.

How exactly do you 'lose'? Again, yea, you dont have the latest version that was put out today but you DO have the prior version. And Im sure the newest version will be updated. It isnt like you have NOTHING.

For Christs sake, at least think sensibly people, whoknowsit didnt always have the latest bleeding edge version up. You arent entitled to the latest version, get the fuck over it.

This isnt on these folks, this is on whoknowsit. If you want him to continue to distribute the guides, convince him. Nothing these guys are doing is stopping HIM from doing what he was doing.

im sorry guys, but im with whoknowsit on this one... you guys need to understand WHY he stopped his project before saying bullshit. I donated for the zygor guides when he was buying the guides. scratch that, when he already bought the leveling guides, but wanted to buy the rest for us. he was like a middleman, accepting money from those who didnt have enough money to get everything but still wanted to contribute. so theres nothing wrong there.

so please, now stop this debate, cause its pointless... those who are still loyal to whoknowsit and trusts him and all, well continue to dowbload there or wait until its opened again. those who wants an.updater like yoricks, fine stay here.

btw, when you buy something, you own it, and so YOU decide what to do with it, and how you do it. whoknkowsit bought the guids, so he.chooses the rules. For me, I will.use the same system as him for the manaview guides, so that i can restrict the downloading to only people from elitepvpers.com , because i choose it that way. i know people will take the files anyway and blablabla, but they still downloaded it from here...

anyways, now that we knowthat this updater isnt a cracked zygorddl, i hope that whoknowsit will continue his work for the good of the community

hey be carefull mate. we now enter the trust zone. I downloaded the guides since the beginning with whoknowsit, and.i have never been dissapointed. i TRUST him. and he never failed to update the guides as soon as.he could. plus, he gave us a downloader and all... so why do this? cause he is a good person who takes care of us. dont go telling people that he.isnt entitled to update the guides, cause sure he isnt, but no one is... you just have to trust him...

btw, i know better now why you got banned ;)

I don't know the intention of yorick or anyone else, but i do what i do because it's a pleasure to be helpful to other people.

1. He bought them using at least partially money that was donated and is still accepting money. Im debating motivation here.

2. You dont 'own' any software you purchase.

3. Claims are being made that these guys arent updating their guides fast enough. Im telling people to take a chill pill, there have been numerous occasions that whoknowsit didnt have the guides updated instantly, cut these guys the same slack you did whoknowsit. By the way, for the fourth time Im not holding this against whoknowsit. Oh, maybe I should emphasize that a bit more since you didnt get it the first three times. Im not holding this against whoknowsit. Maybe one more time? No? Hopefully you understand now.

Look at the statements made by people in this thread and you'll maybe, just maybe understand what is going on. A little hint, whoknowsit is only allowing those who donated, those that cant afford to (or havent for whatever reason) dont have that option. And everyone is putting pressure on Yorick to shut this down.

Its a shame really that people feel the need to insult people when having a conversation.

Yes, this is childish, both on Yoricks part and on whoknowsit's part as well as many others who have posted here.

My point, and hopefully Ive made it, is that there is room for BOTH Yoricks project and whoknowsit to do whatever they want to do. Im suggesting that there is no reason to control distribution. Maybe its also a good idea everyone took a chill pill and dont be so quick to assume what Yorick is doing is such a bad thing, in my mind, its NO different than what whoknowsit was originally trying to do, have everyone run an exe that connects to a private server to get the latest updates. They each just took a different approach.

Many assumptions were made during this and there's no quote better than 'assumption is the mother of all fuck ups'.

For the software, I bought the Tycoon guides. This means that I can do what I want with it, if I respect of course the conditions of manaview (terms of agreement). But lets not talk bout this, useless...

Anyways, yeah I know that he is only sharing the guides with people that donated. If you were here since the beginning, you would recall the fact that he already did this before... He only shared the guide that he bought with his own money until he had enough donations to buy the other guides. When he finished buying all the guides, he released the ZygorDDL for everyone to use, and established one simple rule : no one could use his DDL without his approval (no one can use his work without giving credit). It all went well until he had a little private problem (that I hope is alright...). It started going a bit wild...

Anyways, whoknowsit is working on something new and until he is finished, it is only for donations. If things change, he might share the guides to everyone. But everyone need to ask him, not only 2 or 3 people... That's why it is best to do a poll...

Any reason why the version we are running is 4.0.5329 when there is no such version on the zygor Changelog?(seems to be a typo..) not to mention that the guide is two updates out of date

Atleast i knew what i was downloading from Whoknowsit... i wont use this any longer as the support is crap the person sharing it is a complete asshat ill just go without if i have to untill Whoknowsit Comes back (if he does)

Zygor released 4.0.5329 shortly after 4.0.5328. So, everything's fine.

Whoknowsit, are you not updating your guides because of what exactly? Because someone is already doing it?

As for yorick and the updater, I dont see any problem with it. It is an alternative method and one that as I type is working, not being updated often but I can handle the few days time.

And Whoknowsit, if your intention is to share the guides, thank you for doing it. If your intention is to only share with people who "donate/buy-at-low-price" then I think your worries about yoricks updated are solely because your now both sharing a slice of the same cake.

I believe in equal opportunities. No reason for Whoknowsit to stop just because Yorick started one. So lets all just swollow are pride and just both offer your services. Whoever feels more comfortable with either one of these guys is your choice, but don't just stop offering just because of a little competition. I enjoyed getting updates from Whoknowsit and miss it, and from what I'm seeing, so does alot of other people. So no reason to stop Whoknowsit. I will look to both of you guys as to who has the updates first.

I've been on this forum for a not a long time.. but I donated to Whoknowsit when he asked for help when the MoP guide updates were announced for sale before release. I helped rally the the troops some for his cause or at least I'd like to think I did :P lol.

I don't mind paying for a service when the fee is reasonable or crowdsourced.

I view Whoknowsit's service has a crowdsourced service that we all buy into in a way. Whoknowsit may not agree and that's ok. But I like to see it that way. We all have donated to the cause and in some way those who have donated have a stake in the "service". I honestly believe that's why Whoknowsit is continuing to give updates to the people who have donated. This is for US. W said he doesn't use the guides at all. He did this for US. So when other snake this and slap there name/brand on it and re-distro it and take claim and glory for it, it's sad. You want a medal for taking something for free and giving it away for free.

Bottom line here and i think the REAL issue at the heart of the problem is just this....

Like 1badbobby, Whoknowsit is and was doing EVERYTHING to insure that his LEGIT account is safe! That includes trying to semi control redistribution of the AddOn to severely limit ANY chance of Zygor detecting and banning him. Some here I don't think understand that and just think them being "control-freaks" when they makes rules and conditions. Hey maybe I'm wrong. But considering what happened to 1Badbobby! Do you think it's far from the truth?

The Rules are not hard to follow. I directed people to here as requested. After Whoknowsit started releasing the updates and was allowing us to share (I'm assuming he was striping all ID info out). I was ONLY then sharing with my Mom and daughter because they don't have the patience to figure out how to log on here to get it themselves :( (Mom is 59 and daughter is 15) and stopped sharing with them once it went to donators only unless Whoknowsit says it's ok.

what seems fishy to ME about this current "downloader" is not being updated it seems. People have reported some AV apps alerted warnings on it. (Real Zygors haven't done that AFAIK) Again... I could be wrong.. I'm just leary.

but can testify that yes.. Whoknowsit IS supplying updates to those who have donated in the past like he said he would. so he is not just cutting and running.

I also donated to Whoknowsit for MoP updates and he STILL supply the updates to me and to those who have donated in the past.
