What causes this? Randomly happens for seemingly no reason? As in, the bot works fine, but I wake up and see this in a few VMs.

Hey guys its been a while since I have used NHC. Does the bot still require a machine to run 6+ VMs to run refs?

With a 4770k CPU, how much RAM and SSD size would be needed to run 20vms+

32gb and it can work with a 128gb but if you want to keep it safe go with a 256 one

CPU: intel-7 4770k
SSD: 256 GB samsung pro (preferred) or EVO (the pro will decrease loading time hence more refs)
GPU: i suggest Geforce GTX 650 2gb
32 GB ram

This setup will run 24 vms very stable and fast!

It can work with a 128gb samsung pro if he wants to save money but the 256gb version is a bit faster so there's that

You can create accounts with this BOT from 1-5,1-10 and 1-30. There is two modes on this BOT, one for REFS and other for doing 1-30 called COOP.
