It really depends on what you like to be honest, for me, i just want isro like it was.
Turks in general, with a few excepcions, tend to do what you mentioned. Thats why it's just better to avoid servers owned by turks/egypcians, since thats another red flag for failure.
People quit, thats a fact, what is beautiful about this game is to find the balance between progression and not being full sun. If people hate the slow progress, they also hate silkroad per se, because that's what made the game special. Unless a lot of people come to an agreement to make a big ass server, we'll just keep getting those low quality cash grab servers and even with that, if population just dies. Well. Nothing you can do then, the crowd's mentality is just wrong then. Or it's just me who enjoys the ride.
I was asking some people around discord, people get full nova egy stuff fairly quick, get bored and quit just to do the very same thing again, the game is quite p2w, but silkroad is p2w. So nothing to say there.
AH damn i miss the old good days. Where people just kept progressing trying to be as good as possible without quitting cuz they aren't top 1 or just rage quit because they failed a 2% alchemy rate on their main weapon.
