I expected a person with this much knowledge and experience in making the best silkroad private server you know the answer to that.
In isro it is possible to catch up, it takes such a long time to get good weapons or set. What is more, the process is not straightforward, you can drop a Sun wep, you can be good at making money by the market somehow and buy what you need, but not in those servers. Private servers always have a EXACT path you have to take in order to get somewhere, you have to play N amount of hours, trade X amount of hours, get Y gold, go to Z number of CTF and then you will get a sun wep. There is not catching up to that because they will always be that time ahead.
Moreover, you knew that after you started isro shortly after there will be a new update, possible new degree and all that advantage will be taken away from those who had it and this is when you start fresh. Now one of the biggest reason is that in private servers the overwhelming majority consists of really good players who have been playing this game wants that. The dynamic of isro is completely different you cannot compare them. People were so caught up in making servers better, that they overedit them every single time and after a while it gets boring. The only change I agree, which is proven by the most successful servers which opened lately is not including EU chars, it just seems like CHN servers stay up longer on average.
Even your servers, which we can all agree are one of , if not, the best, close after a while. This just shows that it is not the same as isro. This is only a theory but I believe if they were not as overedited as they are now, just probably a few proven unbalanced features changed, they could last longer. Same thing isro did with updates, caps, every few months something changes etc.
The fact that there are servers which stay longer and longer up, almost 6 months means that something is getting better and soon enough someone will make a server which will last 1-2 years. But the only way to get to something valuable being so straightforward, without any chance whatsoever kills some part of the fun and gets boring. Having 2-3 ways, one including chance, to get somewhere, the same way things are in life, keeps it interesting. Just sharing my opinion nothing more. I believe it is a matter of time until someone creates isro like server that will last, as long as they keep most of the things joymax did right.
