Read it all and lemme be honest with you, the concept of old school is useless for me but it refers something good. and all I actually mean with that word is getting a good player base with a large amount of it.Quote:
What you say bout Velestia huh?
None of you guys, got more than 1.7k players on a server in the past 6-7 months. Asking the community about "requirements" is just stupid. Actually saying "Community" doesnt work, we are all a bunch of egoists trying to make money. A few a bit more, some a bit less.
In the end, its either about money, fame or e-balls/e-dicks.
You guys have been crying about "old times" too much... Old times were old times, they are gone, either do smtn new or gtfo.
"Old school" servers have been tryed out already, 50-60-100 times. Many people have failed, simply because it is currently IMPOSSIBLE to do a oldschool server.
i.e. look at alchemy.
A few years ago people didn't have that many +10+ items... Why? Reasons like elixier stacking...
People have become lazy, they wanna level up quickly, get the best item set group quickly and fuse quickly... they even use fcking fuse bots, and stone fuse bots nowadays... even fucking auto arena registration progs.
Everything that used to take time in the CORE 'systems' can be botted now. Even unique hunting with those bots that do a sound when a unique single spawn packet comes in. It's just plain retarded.
The other day, I've just seen a private trade bot that people have been using.
So what you gotta do is, let people play together. Create 'systems' where group based hunting/killing is needed, something which is only available a few times per day.
Right now, psro gaming is just monopolistic competition, everyone is offering the same noodles with a different sauce.
If you think you can get create a server with 2k players, then do it, however you will have around 100 support requests per day which take at least 20minutes each, if you want to do it properly.
Then you'll have to keep developing more and more features over time, or add-ons in this case.
Then you've gotta try and deflate the ingame economy to ensure that you'll get new players, since there will always be a few ppl leaving per day.
there are tons of problems you guys simply don't know of cause you haven't had a big server.
Everybody thinks differently, I'm not saying I'm right with the shit above, nor is it wrong. It's my point of view, but since I've "failed" (or not?) two times, I might know a bit more than others. Both servers had more than 1.7k players at their peak times.
Oh about venture, I dislike Quyncho, but their gameplay idea and structure/ general concept was awesome for a MMORPG, however it was simply not suited for this 'community'.
None of the other servers have achieved anything similiar yet, nor have they even tried it. just respect people who try out something new and completely different. You guys are just flaming and hating around.
Phoenix, nothing against you mate, but why don't you just sit together with your friends/team mates and discuss what is actually needed? Put up a aim, something that you wanna do, then you look for ways to do it. Don't come up and say "if ppl get hacked, we wont help them.. = less support needed". Instead, look for a way so they don't get hacked.
The basic aim SHOULD be.. getting a shitload of players in a very short time frame right?
The next basic goal should be.. keeping those players that joined.
These are 2 completely different things, you can attract a lot of peopel with just a few features if you do very very good advertisment and DONT do it like the rest... Every good server had a different corporate identity remember? Venture made one hell of an awesome gameplay/introduction clip and had a very detailed feature overview consisting of small rectangular edited screens after each paragraph. OverLimit simply had a shitlong thread when nobody else had long threads. Devias (first one) had one of the first jobbased coin systems and a completely different type of gameplay with the best feature that were possible at that time. Velestia had a very organized thread and just too many features, including explanation about events which were held by gms ingame.. that wasn't common at that time either.. people wanted events at that time.. and they got it.
Skalidor just had an incredibly long thread, written in proper english, with a wide spectrum of different features. We also had the first thread using the slideshow @epvp when it came out.
Meaning, the main way to attract people is doing something which is completely out of the ordinary at the time of posting the thread. You want everyone to have their mouths open and drooling when they read your ad-thread.
About the gameplay, you'll need a lot of party play, when i say a lot, I mean around 10-15 features that are based on party/group based playing NOT including the general silkroad systems. Something different.
Then you'll need to events ingame, daily.. at least 3-4. Done by NON turk, NON egyptian people. Somebody who speaks english perfectly has to do them. No racism, but you don't want people to laugh at GM's. Also this dicludes you phoenix, since you r lacking basic grammer skills. Nothing bad, its fine, since english is not your first language, there isnt any need for you to speak/write it perfectly.
By advise... Do something different. Take ventures quest 5 level idea and put it into a different context. Widen unique-hunting, in terms of the amount of uniques and type of uniques. Everyone should be able to kill them at least once. Increase jobbing... various ways, don't use a coin system, people hate that. DONT mess with alchemy, lots of servers are doing it... but dont touch it, 50% of the ppl will always dislike changes to the alchemy since its bad to begin with, however nobody can say anything about it since its one of the core isro features.
wow, I just wrote a lot. If you find mistakes, you can keep them, I havent read over this post and since i know that i mess up when i stop writing int he middle of a sentence and change it again, it just looks horrible.
Also this is advise, you don't have to follow it. It's simply MY PERSONAL perspective.
Alchemy, trade, bunch of stuff will not be edited or modified. as its original! maybe trade rate will be increased a lil bit but without any fuck up things around.
About the player amount shitty, Play sro advertising method was actually working well. I'm planing to do it so far. maybe some people could do it but no one actually know the method 100% except for few*me fyl included*
