The reason why is simple. The players who keep PVP servers alive is the same people who it has always been, since most people have left the Conquer scene then a PVP server cannot run, because it won't gather any new players really. Most new players come from the actual Retail Conquer and/or another private server. If they come from retail then they will expect something like that, so you can't really keep it oldschool, they might be searching for something alike, but a little easier to get maxed out and if they come from another server they might just be trying to find something similar as where they came from, but maybe a better community and/or something a little different, but the fact that there is no other PVP servers then they're most likely NOT searching for such one and that is why if they ex. join the PVP server they won't be staying, because it's far too different than what they're used to and since the community for a PVP server is already so low then there is literally NO HELP for them to get used to it.

What is a solution to such problem then? Having both a level/pvp server, where they could ex. interact in tournaments, so what they're used to (the level environment) is still there, but then they're slowly getting introduced to the PVP part, where people who are used to PVP will just be at plain PVP. It would require 2 servers and someway for them to interact or one server with each player having a flag of which server they're playing then only spawning and interacting with players that have the same flag, apart from tournaments. Now that way people are slowly introduced to PVP from levelling and they might start to like it better, because the community isn't really dead and that way they might move from the level part over to the PVP part and it could be kept alive. However it's not a 100% guaranteed success as the PVP part still have to be somehow alive, otherwise it would be pointless for them to be joining there :p

Pehaps there could be another thing that makes a PVP server die out, even if it gets active in the first days. That there is not really much unique and that it is the same over and over which will get people bored pretty fast. Perhaps the routine of tournaments should be different, perhaps different tournaments (Maybe let players choose through vote etc.), other things that could be used as PVP apart from tournaments and duelling ex. some minigames or something (I don't know.) There is a lot of things.

Just though I'd throw my 2 cents on that one.

It's not really dead. If you look at all the level servers. There is lots of servers with a lot players, just the usual PVP community is dead and the actual Conquer development is dead.

I agree with it not being dead (yet), but it did get lowered by a huge amount though.

The server is still open!

We never went offline! Don't think we have!

I am still developing this & intend to for some times.

I will like to announce a upgraded AntiCheat coming in the next few days.

I can honestly say this will be the most advanced AntiCheat & Logging techniques CO has seen.

One of the new features I will reveal to you is the Investigation System.

This has 2 stages, Automatic & Manual investigation.

How does this work?(Details will not be revealed for obvious reasons)

What happens is, when the AntiCheat detects something weird going on, but not certain it is a cheat, it will initiate the Automatic phase of this system, this is a system where the AntiCheat will take a bunch of information in & attempt to analyze it against previous logs, other clients & other cheats, if the AntiCheat can proove it is a 100% cheat, it will automatically botjail you, only if it is 100% sure.

If the AntiCheat knows something fishy is going on, but still cannot figure it out the anticheat will initiate phase 2 of the investigation system, this is a manual system.

It will flag the user up, give me all the information the automatic system figured out, (note: at this point the user will have no idea the system is watching the user very fucking closely)

The automatic system would of made a guess of what is going on based on what it could discover, only in very rare cases will it have no idea what the fuck is happening, example if the AntiCheat automatic investigation system thinks it is aimbotting but is not sure and therefor cannot warrent a Jail, it will initiate sensitive serverside checks to kick in, Logging everything the user does from there on out until the manual investigation has completed. (If you so much as jump it will be logged where, when, how quickly between jumps, K/D ratio, everything)

I will then look into it, using some new extra techniques the anticheat will have implemented I would for example, watch the user & be able to know exactly what's happening behind the scenes(Stuff that isn't visual) in REAL TIME.

Pretty cool huh?

You can be certain almost every cheat will be detectable within 24hours of being used on AcidCO.

This is to come in the near future!

... and that's not all.

The server is offline.

After a month of 0 player's there's no point is just loosing money for no cause.

All you fella's wanted was AcidCOV2 & therefor wouldn't play the new one, which is both better in terms of gameplay & behind the scenes coding.

Maybe it was my influence on the team that caused this version to fail, I don't know.
