You can do more w/good CPU cooling. 33 or so is where my 4770k machine settles down and I don't overclock the CPU much at all (in fact I don't remember if its even OC'd right now at 33 machines or not)...The haswells run hot as shit. This rig, even with a Gold or Plat power supply throws off major heat...however, I just built an AMD 8350 (8 core) that does 35 or so and is less buggy/faster than the 4770k and was $200 less to build. I think the 8350 can do 40+ if it just had the ram capability (which is BIG BUCKS).

Be prepared to shell out $1000 USD for 64GB of Ram. You have to use special 16GB sticks or a very expensive motherboard to do it. Not worth it in my opinion. I have a VM of EACH of the three CPU choices and Can tell you EXACTLY what they run:

3770k (Has shitty Agility 3 SSD) - Runs 20, has problems sometimes
4770k (Has 840 Pro 512GB SSD) - Runs 30-33, few problems, not super fast on all VMs but is very stable.
8350 - Just built this, I run 35 right now, but think it could do 40. It's stable and the VMs run a bit faster than they do on the 4770k. I got an Asus Sabretooth motherboard and it sucks. The SSD interface on the board is slow. I don't know if that's because it's an AMD or if it's because this board sucks. I usually use Asrock mobo's in my rigs but went with Asus because "they're so leet" everyone says...never again..the "white" ports on the board are "super fast" but actually slower than regular 6gb Sata ports, and the regular 6gb Sata ports are slower on this board than on my 3770k or my 4770k.

Good Luck

8350 35 vms? :D I had this one, could barely do 20, 3770 was doing way better lol

I can on i7 3770k@4,4GHZ with 22GB ram run 25 VMS easy but my ram block me to run more. I think on 4,4 with 28GB ram i can run 30 and after OC to 4,8 maybe 33-35 With 32GB ram.

Samsung 840 PRO 256GB, XP VM's.

What is better to make 1-30 accounts:

Windows XP or Windows 7?
I have an i7 3930k at 4.5 GHz and 48 GB of RAM.
Samsung 840 PRO 256GB and H110 water cooling.

I know that XP is slower, but I can run more VMs than on Windows 7 there?
Currently have Win 7 with 20 VM's.
And how long does it take to Windows XP from level 1-30?

Thanks for any info.
