Visit XTremeTop100, it's a top for private servers. Most of them are running on emulators for years.

thats just nasty 99% is so fake and desinged to rip your account information

Well thanks for pointing out i can be more optimistic as over the progress made in the years, i just found it rather hard finding the information around it maybe i was doing it wrong but i really wasted more than a few hours searching and trieng ;) however, if this esro also has scalability in their configuration than there wont even be a need to laucn this project, i am not so ego centered that i would think we can do it better it was just a matter of missing information and now still, will they have the same kind of options i listed now in my post :d If they plan to implement that it would be top level supremacy ^^

I was talking about the site in general, not the silkroad section of it which is indeed 99% scam.

All Lineage2 and WoW private servers are running on emulators and (almost) none of them were ever sued.

well depending on your country you have to consider your legal options but more actually if your really running a server , not asking money etc.

For example like one of the servers is doing: register an acocunt "there" for 2 dollars so you can connect... well i geuss someone will find out and sue them.

Its reasonably stable(from what ive heard), but don't be giving up on your project too fast =P

it all depends on how things evolve, if there is already a stable server with the desired configuration options then there is no need really to re-invent the weel

Main example here would be LIIJ (other game i know but evolution wise) that is a project that really grew into something :) i wish that current servers would already be in that status, i started this because i started to doubt it would ever get in such a stable status ^^

Couldn't we like take the base of L2J and use that to build an emu instead of starting from zero?

The only problem is that it is released under the GPL (3.0), so that means that if we use it, it needs to be made open source under the same licence and free.

I would really appreciate help, although i sometimes ask Eckoro, Windrius and the PH devs about sro things.But i do not wanna explain everyone how to parse packets again and again and again. Parsing Packets and getting their structure is damn boring and it needs some time and you always got some values that doesnt fit. And because of that most of the people dont even try, so what can i/we expect from your team? It seems no ones their knows sth about Silkroad packets. Good luck from me though

If it has been explained in a previous thread, would you kindly point me in the right direction? I get hella bored waiting for ZSZC to stop lagging each day so i usually have nothing to do, so parsing packets sounds better and more constructive than doing nothing ^^

Your right and it should be opensource and free ^^
donations are allowed if im not mistaken so, still .. if you wish to earn money with it it is not impossible.

Currently "we" are in a stage of just trieng to get all the brainpower togheter that we need, if that is there we'll take care of a good information flow.

one thing i quite dont understand, why hasnt it been done already :D
in a widely available opensource project, its not like no one would have players :p cuse they are too spread out. Game is much to popular for that

currently there must be 1000+ people or even alot more that want to play but cant play in a good manner.

Currently im hammering again after 6 months of waiting with the POC% from rev6 to get in ... free spots .. cant get in tough (grr)

ive been literally cut of for a loooooong time now :p
so its time for times where having a server is easier

err for the other part, what project are u on? + if people make a server why would it be made to be just for them.
The world is about "us" and if one fails or something bad happens its just going to be "gone" trieng to see the logic behind how things are now. Money? ..others?

Well than there is not really the need to re invent things jsut ported to another language exept for the part of portability of course.
I have a gentoo box but whatever linux flavor you have ... you will always prefer linux to host something on in terms of speed/flexibility/security
