If you are talking about the game client, then yes it only runs on Windows. It's running inside a coherent Windows 7 virtual machine through an application called Parallels, which allows very clean and smooth interop between Mac OSX and other operating systems (in the case, Windows).

If you are talking about the server applications, then this version is built using modern C++, so theoretically it should be able to run on any platform with a C++14 compliant compiler, so it should even be able to run on a Raspberry Pi if you really wanted to.

I don't understand what you mean by this, but this release will not impact those who do not wish to learn and use it, as it'll require some programming knowledge. Though the reward for this is being able to modify any part of Shaiya much more easily, and much faster than using the vanilla server files. While I still have much that I want to change with the overall design, it is stable and provides a clean server environment for developers who wish to work on something... more.

Shaiya Genesis is the biggest project this community has seen and we should all be grateful Cups decided to make it open-source. Do you even understand what this project means to the community? No more reverse engineering, no more compatibility issues, easy bug fixing, custom scripts, etc.. It's a whole remake of Shaiya.
The most unfortunate thing about this project, is that there isn't really much of a community to develop for. I only get 1 or 2 days a week to work on this in between work and real life, so progress isn't as fast as I'd like it to be, especially as reverse engineering some of the more intricate parts of the game protocol can take a lot of time. I do plan on making it open source, but as I'm sure you can understand, there is a lot of work to be done before I deem it worthy (at the bare minimum I want to finish off multiplayer and multi-threaded updating, so that players may see and interact with each other). Of course, that would just be an alpha release, and then developers could get a feel for the project code and perhaps clone it and starting writing their own additions.

Thank you for the kind words, it is encouraging :)

For the Multiclienting, i might be wrong but, actually if you keep a list of
Players, it should work if you broadcast the Playerpackets
like movement for example ( contains player id ) to all players
that are in a given Radius ( Radar ). OF course there are a lot
of other Packets to broadcast, but just 1 example :p

For the Packets, you could start a WIKI or something similar. I mean
thats just guessing work while using a Packetsniffer and every player
is actually able to help with that.

Small question:

What type of Database do you use ? ( SQL, MySQL, Oracle ) :)

One of the best topics in this forum, to see a person working on a game development from scratch, I'm Brazilian and to see what people are capable of doing is impressive, unfortunately in Brazil we don't have a united community, I just see people looking for profits with a private server, I know that I was responsible for a good part of this audience in Brazil when making videos for youtube, I just wanted to help the community, although I'm not a developer I admire the work of people like you too much, congratulations! by DanisFilth a shaiya lover.
