there is a lot that we do not show on the blog, a few pictures and you think you can make some judgements about our source code that you have not seen, that is just silly.

A good coder would not always use C++ they would choose what would be most suitable for their basis. I do not understand why people always think C++ is the most l33t. Each programming language has its own intended purpose.

you really think an experienced coder could implement all these error checks in a week? Also encryption was just one of my examples of the amount that needs to be understood and the levels of parsing required, more so than the coding.

A good coder who can Code in 3 languages (very enough)...Even 1 language like C# or C++(Gaming usage) can be enough,every language has its usage, i know a friend have been coding with C++ for over 7 years now (This is a good coder), all languages are just...way to hard... x_x, so basically he will not give each language a proper time.(My opinion tho).

It takes about hour to write simple GateServer emulation, once you know communication protocol (packets used). However, it takes much longer to understand this communication.
Yes, in case of GateServer, it is simple - there is about 15 different packets at all, altogether with UpdateServer. And yes, these packets are known, they are not changed that often.

Examining GameServer protocol is different thing. Unless you are genius and are able to reverse and understand whole Silkroad client, you have to choose this stupid and slow method - catching packets, analyzing them, testing what each byte means. This is reason why ESRO project takes so long. This is reason why it takes so long to other teams.

Yes, if projects had more people with fair understanding of problematic, more people who are able to analyze data sent/received, more people who can use their brain and think, think how things work, we would be much closer to actual working emulator.

For your information, productive ESRO team, as it is, is composed of 2 people at this moment. Rafa as programmer, Eckoro as packet analyst.
There are other developers who work on some occasions, usually doing some ground work and not directly emulator related analysis.

Whatever, it might have taken year to ESRO to get to this point.
Silkroad is online since 2004 or so and no-one got this far. My question is: Why?

ill come around next year to see if there is a server or more drama..
