You all act like Silkroad private servers are the only servers that suffer from ddos attacks.

Maybe you should open your eyes and broaden your horizons a little bit... I have never played an online game and not seen servers attacked and/or destroyed for different reasons. This includes counter strike, call of duty, tribes, silkroad, wow, minecraft and many others...

Any server that deserves to be online has a team that understand that there will be attacks simply because they are so easy to obtain and use... hell it only takes one mouse click to start using loic... A team that is capable of interpreting an attack and overcoming it is a team that can run a decent server and deserves to do so. Im not saying there there is such thing as a perfect server that will never go offline but atleast the good ones will be able to identify what happened and prevent it from happening again.

I have a server relaunch coming soon, and i KNOW that I am going to get attacked... I have setup some prevention which mostly works against everything I know about but its impossible to know everything and someone will probably figure out how to exploit us or cause massive dc with a ddos attack. But I UNDERSTAND that... And i accept it... and you should fucking accept it too.

I agree with some of the people that said most servers should get attacked to remove the weak ones. They are right not just because they cant fix the attacks but because if they cant figure out how... how do you expect them to create a proper gaming environment.

It has turned into a business and to keep your server alive you have to get rid of the competition.
But, people who are doing it for fun and think they are powerful because they got a botnet should get punshed in the face. Can't accomplish anything irl so they turn to the internet and trying to ruin other people's fun.

Everyone has his reasons...
I don't think to get rid of the competition is a valid reason, you sure have to fight them but in a professional way, if your server is better you should not be afraid of the competition, all you have to do is be a step ahead of the competition and beat them with the stuff you have to offer.
May be a bit too serious to compare but Apple, Google, Microsoft, their tablets, phones, mobile OSystems offer their services, each of them have their goods and bads, with good marketing they sell their products, they won't be DDOSING eachother or exploiting eachother to win.
Good marketing and good products are the key to beat your competition.
